Is kitesurfing banned here? Or is that video more than 20 years old 😅? Amazing to see that boards are going very slightly sideways, which is totally normal in fact due the fin profile and its angle of attack.

People kite surf there rarely as I am told tricky as the kite ropes can get caught in the weed

It can really change from one day to the next. We went through and it was a piece of cake. A couple of days before a truck got stuck and dug huge holes that everyone was falling in to. You just have to pull up and make an assessment,

Good on Fraser, very enterprising! Watching those wading in knee-deep water and some with dogs, and wondering if they realise it's Saltie paradise! Went through there some years ago in a Unimog when the river was still flowing, impossible to see depth/obstacles/etc and at one time the 'Mog almost tipped over when the wheels dropped off the edge. About a dozen (or more) Salties watching, but more would have been lurking. Fraser wasn't around back then!

There had been a lot of rain so we saw no saltys, I flew the drone up and down the river and saw none but they could have been there. I think if we had stuck to the right we may have hot through but I was worried about falling off the track

How much rake do your weed fins need to work here? Be nice to see a clip of the fins used.
@uhaggar9 ай бұрын
Hey Barney I am not a fin expert but I believe you need around a 45 degrees rake. The 2 most common fins are the Atomic Nuclear weed and the Tectonics Speed Demon these are both delta fins. The other fins used are super weeds which are made by Tribal and Atomic. There will be others but they are the ones I am familiar with. Hope this helps mate

Hey Rob, thanks, yep it was a good day, I did close to 35 knts and there was at least one 40 knt speed for one of the sailors, lots in the high 30's. The wind isn't as strong this year, probably due to all the cyclones up north.

I’m no shape to do this again tho this was my hobby for more then a decade in the 80’s and 90’s. People around the world watching this may not realise that this lake is usually dry and empty throughout the year. It's farmland to multiple different owners, there are fences seperating the different land titles... in that lake.
