Thank you so much. Hardcore Protestant though I am, this song always warms my heart. My aunt and uncle used to do it based on the Peter, Paul and Mary version (though they turned it into a Christmas song)

Estelle White I think may be the same person who wrote the "Michaelmas daisies, purple in the border" song... perhaps the title is "Harvest Time"? Either way, it is lovely and so is this one. Really looking forward to learning this song and singing it with the children this Autumn. Thank you for sharing another treasure! 🍁🌻🍂

Those memories were from my old primary school, the place i used to live until i was 7. I moved around alot as a kid and thats the place i lived longest but since i was so young i havent kept in contact with any of them unfortunately so i cant reminisce about these songs with anyone and it makes me feel lonely

After seven decades I still remember the friends and songs fondly. You can find some of those Radio and TV songs here: riverofsong.uk/schools-radio-and-t-v/

@@danyrosevear7925 I only noted the chorus which, as with your version, stayed in Italian. Also you seem to have comments turned off for Ferry Me Across the Water which I wanted to thank you for as my mum used to sing me that and I’d not heard the tune in many a moon. Oh and do call me Chris :-)

Hey, Chris! Yes, its very annoying, I never know which songs I can class as 'not kids' - I do miss the feedback. Another intrigue here, I thought this was a poem and I had made up the tune but if that's the tune your mother sang to you.... perhaps it was in my unconscious, I have a terrible memory!!

@@danyrosevear7925 Not identical but similar and nearer to Mum's tune than any I can find on Spotify. It is indeed a poem originally by Christina Rossetti (In the Bleak Midwinter, Hurt No Living Thing).
