Way to go Damon. I love this summary of your car free commute. I do wish it was a bit more integrated though. Maybe we can get SMART to connect to Vallejo and CalTrain/Amtrack some day.

Subversives of West - Cui Bono? Our enemies benefit as they build out their energy sector while we deindustrialize. "What historians will definitely wonder about in future centuries is how deeply flawed logic, obscured by shrewd and unrelenting propaganda, actually enabled a coalition of powerful special interests to convince nearly everyone in the world that carbon dioxide from human industry was a dangerous, planet-destroying toxin. It will be remembered as the greatest mass delusion in the history of the world - that carbon dioxide, the life of plants, was considered for a time to be a deadly poison." Dr. Richard Lindzen Emeritus Professor of Meteorology Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Imagine the level of delusion it takes to know you are the record holder in apathy. She leads all Calif Assembly members in not bothering to show up. Which is fine, live your dream but how do you convince yourself that people are gonna love for me to take this same level of apathy to Washington. That is an awesome level of false confidence or corruption. Ya I'll get elected, I won't even show up and I'll get elected.

Missed 1647 opportunities to vote. She doesn’t care about anything. Talk your way out of that statistic.

Why is she talking? Can you imagine if she was elected to the Senate? The one promise you know she would keep is to not show up. Why bother? If u don’t intend to show up for work 2/3’s of the time. Just stay home lady

Video AI is not fully controllable, and therefore cannot be used in storytelling production, so CGI artists are still necessary. It's just a matter of those of us in LA who need work to come back from Canada, UK, etc.

Oh, is Connolly a fan of bikes because of the DUI he received after trying to commit a hit-and-run when he drunkenly crashed into a stop sign? An example that drinking and driving can result up to a decade of high political office. What a role model.

Don't get me wrong, I want more public transportation and I think it's great the infrastructure is here for us to make such a journey, but I calculated this trip based on today's fares and schedules and this is a 7 hour $76.20 daily commute. 7 hours spent commuting a day is almost another full-time job. A car is around a 5 hour $30.72 commute, which is awful as well.

If you are a black person living today who hasn’t ‘healed’ from slavery, you need to see a counselor, priest, pastor, etc. You don’t need payments to make you whole. Thats beneath the dignity of any serious human being-no matter one’s color.

@ Assemblymember Friedman - I was disappointed to learn IATSE Local 600 (Cinematographers Guild) was not invited to participate in this conference. Friedman as a former entertainment industry producer should be well aware of the impact of IA 600 members and contributions they make to the entertainment industry. It is quite clear the oversight by Assemblymember Friedman to not invite IA 600 is disingenuous behavior on her part. Don't get bogged down discussing AI as the fundamental problem is the lack of tax incentives. I urge all entertainment industry workers both union and non-union to vote for change this coming November. We must seek out elected officials who will take an active role to protect and save our industry. Los Angeles is on the verge of becoming the next Detroit a barren wasteland of unemployment and destitute citizens.
@jafrasar126 күн бұрын
Every guild/union makes many contributions to the entire industry, and therefore this entire region. Really hoping that LOCAL and STATE leaders take notice and IMMEDATE STEPS, , to at least meaningfully compete, with other states, with smaller populations than California. Georgia has 11 Million population, yet is able to scrape together $1B annually for a green carpet, that will enrich their economy. What enables them, I ask.

This was great. Thank you Laura and Jeanette. I worry about the future of studio produced animation. Incentives may not be enough if AI technology starts to excel and impact job positions. Seems change is coming and just like in the recent past with outsourcing, it’s not going to benefit our working artists here.

@ Assemblymember Friedman - I was disappointed to learn IATSE Local 600 (Cinematographers Guild) was not invited to participate in this conference. Yourself as a former entertainment industry producer should be well aware of the impact of IA 600 members and contributions they make to the entertainment industry. Please reach out to IA 600 for future meetings. The root of the problem is the lack of tax incentives to encourage producers to return to Los Angeles and California for their productions. Don't get bogged down discussing AI as the fundamental problem is the lack of tax incentives. Producers are looking for other states and countries to work in to stretch their budget.

As of 2022 Program 2.0 generated a total of $21.9 billion in economic output and $961.5 million in state and local tax revenue over its five-year run.“California’s film and TV tax credit program is an investment in the industry and thousands of people whose passion and vision create the content we all want to watch,”said Nancy Rae Stone, deputy director of the tax credit program. “Its career readiness requirement helps ensure a pipeline of emerging talent in the years ahead by providing paid internships, workshops and panels, while the Career Pathways Program provides hands-on training to individuals from underserved communities.”
@jamesoreilley2557Ай бұрын
California cannot remain competitive with other states and countries unless additional tax credits are offered to producers. It is simple economics . Producers are always looking to stretch their budget.

Another viewer commented "FilmLA raised the prices for permitting how was that helpful". My answer " FilmLA is part of the problem not the solution. They are blind to the underlying issue which has resulted in thousands of unemployed entertainment industry workers."
@jamesoreilley2557Ай бұрын
As a former entertainment industry producer Assemblymember Friedman should be fully aware of the primary issue. "Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) will likely face off against Republican intensive care physician Alex Balekian in the race to replace outgoing Rep. Adam B. Schiff." Why should we vote for her to represent us in Congress if she has failed to address our financial well being? As voters we have the power to tell Assemblymember Friedman we will not vote for her given her inability as well as other state politicians to implement changes to save the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and California.
@DM_the_3rd20 күн бұрын
Alex B. would be incredibly worse. You should have voted for Mike Feuer or Anthony Portantino in the primary. Now the thing to do is write to your representatives like Friedman to get ranked choice voting so we don't have to deal with situations like this where better candidates get removed via splitting the vote and urge them to increase the CA film credits.
