A study published in JAMA Neurology in 2019 demonstrated that repetitive head impacts from sports like football can lead to changes in the brain even if an athlete does not suffer a diagnosed concussion. These impacts, especially when experienced over multiple seasons, can accumulate and cause long-term neurological damage. Middle and high school players, with their developing skulls and brain structures, are especially vulnerable because their neck muscles are weaker than those of adults, which means they cannot stabilize their heads as effectively during collisions. The safety measures taken by schools and sports organizations, such as implementing head impact awareness programs, reducing full-contact practices, and encouraging proper tackling techniques, aim to reduce risks, but the inherent dangers of repetitive contact and trauma in football remain. Even with the best protective equipment, the reality is that helmets cannot prevent brain injuries caused by the cumulative effect of impacts over time, especially for growing players in high-impact sports like football.

Don't get me wrong, I want more public transportation and I think it's great the infrastructure is here for us to make such a journey, but I calculated this trip based on today's fares and schedules and this is a 7 hour $76.20 daily commute. 7 hours spent commuting a day is almost another full-time job. A car is around a 5 hour $30.72 commute, which is awful as well.
