Hands down one of the most beautiful videogame OST songs ever--this is better than the piano-composed version it was derived from. Extrapolating into 16 bit sound made this *better*. The whole OST is amazing but this...this was my summoner music every time. So I played crying a lot.

The prelude to change. The enemy has prepared and is ready to unfurl their plans. The execution and the anticipation. The deliberation of battle. The battle goes on, the outcome yet to be seen. Chaos persists.

The music in this game is beautiful indeed. I think i first played this when i was like 5 and didn't understand anything haha. After like 12 years I suddenly remembered the game and started playing again, and oh man did I enjoy it. Still one thing left to do: beat the second campaign.

This is a typical Bach's fugue. The subject has 3 clear figures and is pretty well done The entrances are 3, 2, 1 and 4. At 00:19 it starts the first episode. At 00:28 there's a rethink of the theme, very typical of the old ricercare, but it's only used twice, then there's an exposition in the relative key at 0:34. My favorite part of the piece is the episode at 00:44 that connects to another episode at 00:53. Then, it all changes. At 1:02 the music goes to another style, quite modern. This has nothing of Bach. It might be not the best part of the piece, but definitely the most original. It abandons the fugue texture (yes, texture, not form, you ignorant fucks) and goes to a free homophonic question-and-answer structure with a very loose harmony. And then, after reaching the dominant 7th chord, it reloops. I don't buy it. I don't think whoever claims to have written this actually did it. I think the "composer" used a bach's fugue (or another composer's) and then wrote the retransition part at 1:02. I could never find the Bach's original fugue, but lately I stumbled into this and, although it's not a fugue, it's in the same key and has some motif similarities: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHvXq4qmZ8hsmpY When I do find the supposedly original piece, I'll post it.
@ShoesMagoo5 жыл бұрын
Definitely some similarities there, and you may very well be right about the origin of the piece. As a second semester music program student, I appreciate and thank you for taking the time to do an analysis. Two years later so you may well never see this, but I suppose you never came across the supposed original piece?

ah yes, because we all know there has never been a piece of music that has ever had contrasting sections. composers are capable of writing one thing and one thing only!!!!!!!!

@jasonisunavailable we are most fortunate to have tasted the fruits of such inspired genius, and now to share again among strangers and friends, and our children.
