I was blown away the first time I heard this track on the radio in '87. As others here have said, very underrated band. Still listening in 2025.

When I hear this song, I see a lone, forlorn woman in a billowing black hooded cape standing on a windswept cliff top gazing wistfully into the distance, oblivious to the foaming, crashing waves. I see a red sky and ominous thick black clouds rolling in. It fills me with a sense of loss and yearning… That was until I saw this crap. Now all I see is a well-lit village hall, only half-filled to capacity with a bunch young people who made no effort (especially the girl in the pink, black-dotted pyjama bottoms), just chatting away oblivious to the magic taking place on stage or reluctantly dancing out of step to a song that isn’t a dance song. Cry Before Dawn should sue their manager or producer or whoever made this half arsed home video which probably helped kill this most perfect song and the careers of the band. This song was hardly given any airtime when released and thankfully I don’t recall ever seeing this abomination of a video at the time. U2 have enjoyed much greater success but their only hit that comes anywhere close to this masterpiece was New Year’s Day. I wonder if Bono produced this video and purchased the pyjama bottoms.

I am just Rediscovering this Amazing yet "Very Underrated" Irish Band from the 1980's. A Very Good Friend of mine was a Fan of CBD back then. I was in my Late teens/ Early adult year's and was into UB40 at the time.

Whoever let that guitar harmonic onto the track should have been removed from the studio. Its ruins an otherwise cracking track. Its sounds like a shit guitar through a shit amp.
