Can you get around in Spain not speaking Spanish? Are you studying abroad in Spain?
@LakinMaria11 ай бұрын
You can definitely get around Spain without speaking a ton of Spanish. I would definitely recommend learning a few basic phrases to be polite and make an effort. But especially in bigger cities, there's a lot of tourists so a lot of the locals speak English. I wasn't in a study abroad program, but I was taking a Spanish course at a language school in the city.

@@LakinMaria sweet!! (Idk why I don’t get notifications when you responded but I found them afterwards haha. So I wonder if you rented a short-term apartment while you were in Spain? Did that work out better for you than Airbnb or hostels? Did you take time off from work or school to travel? Did you just mostly went for leisure? How did you move around while you were there, is the public transportation friendly? Did you go all around Europe while you were there? Sorry if that is a lot of questions 😅
@LakinMaria11 ай бұрын
@@Omcalecule I actually did rent an Airbnb. I found it was the easiest way to search for long-term accommodations. There are also certain deals through Airbnb if you are staying 28+ days, so my apartment was a good price. I think hostels would be fine for short-term stays but not for longer trips. Having a place to cook definitely saved me a bunch of money. As for taking time off, I had taken a semester off school so I had a lot of flexibility when it came to travel times and booking dates. I will say that I met a ton of people in Valencia that were either working remotely or took time off work to be there for a few months. I think it just depends on your school or job. I wanted to improve my Spanish which is why I picked Spain, and more specifically Valencia when I found they had a great language school. It depends on your goals for travel, but if you plan to stay in one place I think language courses are a great way to meet people and sort of integrate yourself into the culture. I made a few friends through the school that I'm still in touch with. A lot of larger European cities have good and affordable public transportation. I took both the buses and metro to get around but honestly walked more than anything. It's all quite easy to navigate. I spent about a month in Valencia and traveled to a few cities in Spain during that time, mostly as day-trips. Because I was paying for the Airbnb for the month, I didn't want to do a lot of traveling around Europe and spend more money on housing in other countries. I hope this is helpful and honestly please send any other questions you have!

1 the cinammon rolls were too close to eachother while baking put them so that they are close to each other but not touching each other they will rise in the oven and touch each other 2 you can put some heavy whipping cream on the cinammon rolls before baking them so that they will be softer more moist and they will have a nice soft bottom instead of a hard one 😊
