What about using this formula pole_pairs = (120 * Max Hz) / Max RPM (ex. 6 = 120 * 400hz / 7500rpm However, something doesn't add up... I see a zero-crossing envelope frequency of 250hz. Therefore: rpm = ( envelope_freq * 60 ) / pole_pairs = ( 250 * 60 ) / 6 This yields an rpm of 750, yet I measure it to be 7500rpm! I am feeding a 5khz excitation frequency to an induction motor's primary resolver rotor.. then I understand you will get out the sin/cos resolver signals that can then be used to determine angle and speed. The sin and cos signals are amplitude modulated with a frequency of the excitation.. and the *ENVELOPE* of the AM modulation is proportional to the speed of the motor.
@MitchellElectronicsInc8 ай бұрын
Good thinking on this. We probably cannot add much to your calculations because this video explains how to determine the number of motor poles on a permanent magnet brushless DC motor. Measuring poles on an induction motor would be slightly different.

@MitchellElectronicsInc Жыл бұрын
Asynchronous motors do not require alignment of the feedback, but the feedback should still be tested to make sure it's working correctly. You can use the TI-5000JX to confirm. Please provide your contact details here and we will provide you a quote: www.mitchell-electronics.com/get-in-touch/

Can you please rephrase your question so I better understand? Are you asking about the physical placement of the encoder, or the tolerance of the electrical angle? Usually that should be +/- 3 electrical degrees to insure adequate alignment so the motor runs properly in the customer's machine.
@manjunathamanju54202 жыл бұрын
Could you please explain how to calculate electrical angle and mechanical angle?
@MitchellElectronicsInc2 жыл бұрын
First measure the poles of the motor. If the feedback type is a resolver, you must also measure the resolver speeds. Some division factors into the calculation. Our servo motor training program explains how these measurements are performed and our software performs the calculation of the electrical angle in real-time while the feedback shaft turns. The electrical angle is the most important figure to note when aligning the feedback device to the motor. www.mitchell-electronics.com/training/
