Grew up here and these videos are amazing. Don't know how I found them but what luck. Interesting to meet the person who is narrating and who's videos they belong to. Putting it her is preserving history for a long g time

Hopefully one day this film, and others of it's kind, will be remastered digitally to preserve them and to clear them up so they can be viewed easier.

You'd be surprised how many of these old cars that have been sitting for years will still run again with just a little coaching. Nice to see it's stock with it's original 6 volt ( started fine, you don't need 12 volt) original generator (you don't need a modern alternator to charge the battery) Please keep it stock.

Thank You.... My uncle Louis and my Dad worked here during this timeframe.... My Dad added several years to his age to get the job. When I assumed the financial caregiver role I had to deal with the age "Difference". Wonder how many other young men, Boys did the same in the depression years. Thank you again, one thing is to hear memories, quite another to see.... Both are gone now..

My grandfather worked at the Loomis in the 30s and 40s. My mom told stories of him driving the "lokie". He was a good man, he would sit up with us kids sometimes till dawn telling us stories of his days in the mines and the way things were back then. I remember him missing the tip of his finger from a mishap there. Hard times created strong men.

I am watching this video with mixed emotions.... #1 Why was the building NOT cleaned out by Mericle (the current sellers) as all that old syrup, etc. is a breeding ground for vermin. #2 NOW THIS WILL CAUSE A DISTURBANCE...BACK WHEN I WAS APPROXIMATELY 10?? YEARS OLD, MY SISTER & I SHARED THE SAME BIRTHDAY. This was shortly after the Agnes flood, or maybe before. I don't know what year this happened, but this needs to be made public. Back then, as most children did, we had a "home birthday party" for my sister & I. There were homemade birthday cakes, plates of candy, homemade paper hats for the party goers, and small gifts given. No Chuckie Cheese's around back then!! My parents bought a box of fudge "sickles" or whatever you would want to call them..some type of ice cream bar at the Sunshine Market. There were more ice cream bars in the box than needed for the party, and I asked if I could have an ice cream bar pre-party one day to have as a treat. Wish granted. As I bit into the ice cream (I recall it was a fudgesicle) there was a piece of metal about 3/4 of an inch long by 1/4 inch wide with a circle in the middle that hit my teeth/tongue. The metal fragment was frozen into the paper-wrapped ice cream bar. The piece of metal was silver as mentioned with a perfect circle in the center. About the size of the "blue comment box here on KZbin". As I bit into the metal, I yelled "look what I found", & my parents immediately took the ice cream bar away from me. In fact, the entire ice cream bar box just stayed in our freezer untouched. There was a # number engraved on the piece of metal. My beloved Dad called Golden Quality & explained the situation. A man from Golden Quality was dispatched to our home, in a suit, and sat in our "good sitting room" & looked at the piece of metal and "took it from us". We never heard of anything more...NO "we are sorry"'; NO "the ice cream bars are going to be recalled by our company"; NO we will refund your money or give you a box for free..... NOTHING. Back then, I don't know if the old flash cube type photography would have taken a good picture of the piece of metal with the circle & number on it, but I would have done anything to have a photo of that piece of metal today. The piece of metal, we assumed (my parents) was a piece of metal that fell "off the production line" and was frozen into the ice cream bar. I do not recall Golden Quality asking where we bought the item at (Sunshine Market) and if the box appeared tampered with, stuff like that. They only wanted the metal & they left. THANK GOD THIS METAL FRAGMENT (which was not sharp just the corners were) was NOT EATEN BY A BIRTHDAY PARTY GOER, OR CHOKED ON BY A CHILD (or an adult). If this was to have happened in the "later years" say after the Tylenol/Cyanide tampering years, these ice cream bars would have been recalled by the government. WE NEVER PURCHASED A GOLDED QUALITY PRODUCT AFTER THIS HORRIBLE INCIDENT, and as a much older adult now, I drive past that building & think "my God, what could have happened with that piece of metal...." and Golden Quality Ice Cream NEVER cared......SHAME, SHAME ON THE OWNERS, MANAGEMENT, ETC. This story is absolutely true, & I'd swear on by taking a polygraph test. My Mom is 88 years old now, and remembers this incident like yesterday. WELL, NOW THE GOLDEN QUALITY PUBLIC/WORKERS KNOW. I'm sure the workers there were never told about this incident. It was kept "hush" "hush". Shame on you, Golden Quality....... :(

The Olexy family lived next door on the left side of the film to the Golden Quality factory!...My Dad and Mom Atty. joseph and Mary Olexy bought the house in 1946 after Dad returned from WW2....he was a radar officer on a destroyer in the Pacific. Our house was a large 3-story brick home previously owned by Dr. Charles Ashley...a beautiful 3-story home with large rooms..the home was sold to the Williams Funeral home

Which family owned the business? I'd like for them to know about the piece of metal found in our ice cream bar for a birthday party. Golden Quality snatched the piece of metal from us and NOTHING was ever done. See above comment.

Wow... This is a disgrace ... I must ask a dumb question pardon me .. Is there not township garbage pick up in the area ,or a municipal dump/recycleing center ? Or just lazy people who live in the area with no respect for their communities .It's sad how a handful of bad people can do to the towns they live in because PA has the best ,kindest people I have ever met.
