Honestly, the new drummer has an style and dynamics somewhat similar to Goldmisth's. It reminds me a lot of the FF 's sound from 95-97

I don't like time feeling of Josh playing songs of Foo Fighters which were with Taylor Hawkins on drums. For example, why in the song Times like these, on 38.38 minute, he began to slow down the tempo? Precision of Taylor was much better.

On the other hand, Taylor would often push the tempo ahead.. which I do like! It’s all mailable, I think Josh sits right in the pocket, with a healthy amount of push and pull of the time :)

Josh plays with a nice controlled energy and gives each song a good balance of power and technique. He sits in the pocket well but adds a bit of tension to the beat to give the songs that feeling of forward motion. Not intended as a criticism, but unless my ears deceive me, on Everlong he seems to play slightly different chorus fills than what I learned from the original recording. But all good. Speaking of recordings, I thought the mix from the May practice session (also posted on KZbin) was exceptional. I'd say that the snare seemed to stick out at times in this concert video's soundtrack...and I love snare. I find DW snares have a bit more higher-end "bite." So maybe the engineers are still used to mixing Taylor's Gretsch snare. But all in all, phenomenal Foo sound. Now I'm sorry I didn't get ACL passes. Would love to see this amazing band in Austin this month.
