Erica Nadera's vocals are excellent, I absolutely love how introspective and sad her Ivy is, as opposed to the portrayal of a very desperate Nadia in this song.

Almost as good as Jenna Leigh Green. Impressive. A bit lacking in staging, but the vocal performance was exceptional.

I know I'm 8 years late, but out of all versions this song (not including the original), this is the best. This girl really hits where it hurts. She managed to express the same emotions as the original without annoying riffs or exaggerations. TL;DR It's amazing.

I watched a few performances of this musical. Why is the kiss so aggressive? I just landed the role of Patrice. Is this how im going to have to do it. I'm cool with kissing just not aggressively, if that makes sense.

Beautiful use of chest and head voice. There were a few spots that sounded flat, but this song is challenging to sing without sounding flat. Dramatics were on par with the emotion of the scene. Lovely.

Be on your own You’ve always talked about your need to travel Now go off, unravel On your own Go find some restaurant attendant Go show her how independent You have grown Go on... Be on your way There’s not a single reason I can find To make me want to keep you one more day There isn’t any sort of price that you could pay There isn’t any sort of word that you could say There isn’t any sort of magic To avoid this tragicomic little play We need to play Be on your way Go on No need to carry out This masquerade When all that we’re about’s Begun to fade I set you free There’s not much longer to complain I’ll soon relieve you of your pain When I set you free If that is all you wish to have, then I agree No need for thanks, your just rewards will be my fee Go off and live your petty fictions Full of blatant contradictions you can’t see And what will be Is that you’ll leave And you’ll take with you all you own From A to Z And all of me

I loved Katie Steven's performance, but it always bugged me because she's so thin and the whole point this song is making is about how bigger girls never get the part, and they gave it to someone thin and put her in baggy clothes. This girls performance is absolutely powerful and more fierce. Completely brilliant!!
@alyburdy21656 жыл бұрын
The whole point is that Nadia isn’t supposed to be overweight. She just thinks she is. Like she says she’s so hard on herself because of her mother.
@cosmicjami36 жыл бұрын
Alyburdy I don't think that Nadia should be completely obese, but she certainly shouldn't be as thin as some of the actors cast to play her are. I think that this girl is great - she's got the right attitude and the right body type for it.
@person39456 жыл бұрын
Alyburdy yeah i think people always gloss over the fact that it’s basically a song about insecurity
@yinesscaaponte82954 жыл бұрын
This girl isn't fat either. The point of this type of casting is to show how our mind can fool us into believe that were fat just. us were not exactly on the bone. To the point we can actually harm ourselves. Also, that our parents can judge us and try to change us. Jason, in the original version, dosen't put up with it, when nadya says "I have mounds of thick skin" Jason says "where?" Because he knows that what she believes and what her parents tell her isn't true

I have neither the body nor the jump roping skills for something like this and therefore am quite unqualified to critique it but the music is fabulous and I'll have to give it a 9.5/10. Melody doesn't always come out where it should but in a way that doesn't detract from the experience.
