It's a shame that whomever re-shot this to change it to digital, didn't make sure it was FOCUSED in the first part with John Wayne. I remember seeing this a hell of a long time ago from the original film. Thanks to the projectionist, the entire thing was in focus. The sledge is most likely a 10 or 12 pound one, I've used far too many up to 20 and that one requires a special handle these days. Back in the 70's we used a shaved Pick handle to get something big enough to actually fill the hole in one.

My hunters safety instructor played this in our class about 25 years ago. It’s still relevant and it made a lasting impression on me. I have taught dozens of people to shoot and I do my best to embody my “inner Duke” and instill the right amount of fear in everyone I have instructed. Thanks Duke, we miss ya

Same here. I saw this film and others in Cedar City, Utah almost 40 years ago! As a young kid wanting to get a deer hunting license. We got little blue cards that would allow us to buy a youngster's license. All those films made an impression. Watch that muzzle and know where you're bullet is going.

The pill is not too different. A .204 Ruger will probably rip up a paint can pretty good. We got to see this film when we were about 10 years old. The school would take us on a fieldtrip out to Ben Avery.

1960's took NRA hunter safety course Coyote Point Range ,San Mateo ,Calif...several months ,once a week, at end had to pass written , oral, and shoot a qualifying score from position (no benchrest) with range's target 22 rifle. Col.Van Gene was instructor.....and of course you were able to shoot & practice for qualifying .22s were 35 cents std vel 50 cents hi vel....Still have certificate, is that ok for current proof of safety course for Commiefornia? How about now a days, do safety course students actually shoot, or just book learning?........excellent video..God bless John Wayne

Not many views on this, dumbfounded 3 people actually gave it thumbs down. That's shameful. But i'm sharing on Facebook, not that that will get many views either. Sorry Duke sir.

I shared it too, the problem is many people don't know about it. I am a long time firearm instructor and only found this by accident yesterday. www.tngun.com/this-little-bullet/

I am not sure. This film was standard viewing in Arizona's schools in the 1970s. You may be able to try Arizona Game & Fish, some of the schools in Arizona, or the libraries down here. I got to meet John Wayne out at Ben Avery Shooting range back in about 1976 or so. With parental permission the kids went on a field trip and saw demonstrations like this first hand, at the shooting range north of Phoenix. AZ Game & Fish, 5000 W Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85086, I wonder when they moved? That sure seems like Ben Avery's address, and not AZ G&F off of Greenway. That is where the shooting portion of the film was done.
