I have the same bike in the same colorway... difference is I love the color. My build is Float SL/34 stepcast (factory), hunt XC wheels, roval carbon seatpost and handlebars, XT brakes and drivetrain, NOS shimano pd-a600 pedals, NOS Lezynne Micro GPS C. Need to decide if I want to go to the roval wheels and what saddle and tires I want to finish it up.

how you removed paint from the bike ?
@betterbolts23 күн бұрын
We sanded down the original paint with 180 and 240 grit sandpaper. We go over it in the video.
@fewkilometersaday23 күн бұрын
@@betterbolts yes i saw that just wanted to know paper grit. thanks for that. ALso you didnt sand it down till carbon layer, I am thanking to sand it down till carbon layer and then clear coat just carbon layer but then I am afraid of getting direct hit to carbon instead of paint layer chip off while accidents or crash.
@betterbolts23 күн бұрын
@ scuffing the paint may earn you a better result rather than sanding all the way down to carbon as well as less possibility to sand too far. At the end of the day it’s up to you! We’re not professionals at frame painting so take our advice with a grain of salt.

Nice video,i prefer natural Titanium finish but is it still PVD coated,how does UV affect titanium,its inert and reflects UV.
@betterboltsАй бұрын
Our silver hardware is not PVD coated, it is raw titanium. By UV resistant we were referring to the coloring in the PVD coating. With anodizing it is very common for it to fade over time, that is not the case with PVD coating.

Hello, I have purchased the Rotor Bolts Kit and will be installing it soon. I'm relatively inexperienced. What's the reason for not unscrewing the old screws one by one and replacing them with new ones? Wouldn't this make the whole process more stable and easier to handle? The holes of the hub and brake disc would also already be exactly aligned. Thanks for the clarification.
@betterboltsАй бұрын
You could do this if you wanted. You will just want to leave them loose until tightening them all together in a star pattern as shown in this video.

Once you go with Better bolts, you will quickly become annoyed with lower quality hardware and next thing you know you will have swapped all your bikes over and have a box full of spares and extras incase you need to do anything.

I love what you guys do but I'm curious why PVD instead of electro anodizing?
@betterboltsАй бұрын
We will cover this in our video to come but PVD offers many benefits that anodizing does not. One of which being that electro anodizing affects the strength of the hardware.
@theephemeralglade1935Ай бұрын
Galling.
@betterboltsАй бұрын
We will cover it in our next video about Titanium but with our hardware galling is much less of a concern. Our PVD coating on our hardware acts as a protective barrier for this. We have not had one complaint about galling in all our years. That being said it is always a god idea to take preventative measures like using thread locker and anti-seize to prevent this further.

Please, can we hope in Shimano brake caliper body bolts? I have all bolts you make for Shimano XT 8120 brakes (caliper mount, brake pads bolts and brake lever mounting and bleeding bolts) in oil collor. But I miss caliper body bolts to much. It would be nice, if I have full kit from You on my brake.

I want a similar build for cyclocross because I am afraid of cracking a carbon frame. I have some Titanium eewings road cranks but and would like use that 5DEV chainring. Not sure if it is compatible.
@betterboltsАй бұрын
The 5DEV ring fits on standard SRAM 8 bolt cranks only. If we are correct the eewings are 3 bolt only.
@JulienRobitaille-x7fАй бұрын
Hi guys! I'm currently looking to install GX transmission on the same crux dsw frameset. As a result of my research, it says the cassette is optimized for a 55mm chainlink, so I'm wondering how you guys accomplished that with a non dub "wide" axle. Thank you!
@JulienRobitaille-x7fАй бұрын
chainline sorry*
@betterboltsАй бұрын
This is where SRAM makes its confusing. Road DUB wide is the is same spacing as standard DUB mountain. The crank spindle in the bike is what SRAM calls DUB wide road. You will need some spacers (typically supplied with SRAM bottom brackets) on either side of the axle to properly center the axle. We also used a 3mm offset chainring.
@JulienRobitaille-x7fАй бұрын
@@betterbolts thank you! very clear

Never seen Sram cranks spin freely and this is just another example.
@betterboltsАй бұрын
On a band new bottom bracket you often will never see them spin freely as that would mean there is little to no grease in the bearings. Most of the time when cranks spin with little to no drag it is a good idea to check you bottom bracket for wear.
@BikeLife154Ай бұрын
@betterbolts that’s bs! Even my cannondale cranks which I just fitted with NTN bearings spin amazingly well. The shimano cranks I fitted with a Hambini Race BB spins for days. My giant Revolt with dub on the other hand, hardly spins at all. SRAM BBs are just crap!

No, that is just a bit of dirt still on the cage. The chainring and cage have quite a bit of clearance between the two.

Are trp hoses prone to making noise in frame fitted dhr evos on a levo know have a tick noise
@betterbolts2 ай бұрын
@@Model6780 not necessarily. When cables are run through a frame that doesn’t have cable routing a “churro” should be used which is a foam sleeve to stop the brake lines from rattling. The Levo should have a routed tunnel the whole way through so this shouldn’t be necessary. The tick may be coming from something else.
@PilotReidB2 ай бұрын
I was interested in this but seriously what are you guys doing? 9k for this a 20.5lb gravel bike? If It was a hard tail front suspension bike sweet, but I didn't know you could get a crux over 20lbs. Can't say I agree with this when you're not far off money wise to just building an S Works with 13 speed XPLR sitting around 15lbs and having some resale value when you want to move to something else. Not my money, not my bike. Quality video just what a weird way to spend close to 10 grand
@betterbolts2 ай бұрын
In many ways this bike is more similar to an S-Works build, we never claimed it was a “cheap” build. The dropper post adds $675 and 1.2lbs to the build so that is a large portion there that a stock S-Works build doesn’t come with. Additionally we opted for a mountain bike drivetrain which we earlier explained the reasoning behind it but this is also close to 2 pounds heavier. Lastly, the 5Dev titanium cranks added weight and a good portion to the overall cost as compared to an s-works build. The goal of this build was not weight driven. We could absolutely put together a Crux sub 16lbs if that was the goal but for this build there were other priorities.
