I think the bidding should cause a lower (negative) life threshold rather than alter the 50 life. I say this because it could be that in later iterations of this game, there could be cards that may if you have X amount of life do this. It would be much easier to keep track of that number rather than the EV value. Can't argue against the format you suggested though, I love sealed either way! This one is probably more fair for experienced players like you said. Maybe I'll try to run one of these on 5th Cycle whenever I get some time this summer.

This looks like a great idea. I think you'll need to get some online tournaments going to build a body of feedback/reviews/evidence of it's viability

Id' go for the Basher, since I consider Level 1 Shambler not such a super big impact, while the Basher would grow stronger, even without the Shambler.

Thank you for your commentary and the kind words! It was a great match and I was thrown off by entirely by the aggressive start you had which was very different from the first game. Some thoughts: Yes it was a calculated gamble on that forge seal that gave me options for bad, decent(what happened), and good. I felt I had to try to make adjustment since even though I was up on health I felt off my game. You were a very gracious opponent when I requested to take back the Dysian Syphon as I dropped it and realized I couldn't use it as I had thought. I agree I should get better versed and play more of when actions get started to keep towards them. I would have understood if you had said no at that point. In Cycle 3 I think where I used the Broodfang/Dreadmaw combo is something I have to thank you for your help with as well. This was something I was aware my deck was capable of but you had helped me with this to be more cognizant of just during our conversations between rounds earlier in the day. Your insight and ability to see the game is awesome and I'm glad you were able to get this content out to everyone :) I hope to be able to meet up with you again at future events!

That's just a beast of a deck. It feels like the Mantis / Forge Seal decision is the core of playing it though even the Level III Forgeborn ability has clear use (life gain that doesn't require a card play in cycle 3 then play free stuff, particularly spells). I suppose it might even be possible in certain circumstances to level one of Mantis / Forge Seal cycle 1 even without an 'ideal' number of spells played to get the potential of cycle 2 lifegain via the levelled card for free stuff and two triggers of Darkforge Drain by the unlevelled Mantis/ Forge Seal plus your native cycle 2 Forgeborn ability. It also feels like the green/purple combo is just a little more forgiving on draw ordering than silver/purple, which requires your to retain certain board states at key moments to get the combination plays to trigger. Perhaps another interesting aspect of BfWP is that Darkforge Drain becomes somewhat depowered by having spells sit around on the board as Exalts rather than being directly banished on play.

Thanks for grinding out all the math! Several of these probabilities were quite a bit lower than I would have guessed (would not have guessed the chance of drawing any 3 given cards in your opening hand was so low low myself). As well as highlighting the cruel efficiency of this particular combo, it also helped me to wrap my head around the overall chances involved of drawing specific cards or groups of cards during in this game... 👍👍🙏

I will say that I agree that there was likely a skill gap in the beginning of the game, and I had a headstart on people because I'd played the original SolForge game pretty much every day for four years. While the games aren't the same, they are close enough that I had a lot reps in on a similar system and understood how a the key mechanisms (lanes, choices for playing that are connected to leveling) worked.

Parkaboy here. For reference, I used Steel Rosetta. And this deck has continued to perform very well for me in the time since. What this deck is all about is board control with mage synergy. It's got seven mages, with both the Firefist and the Allomancer able to help clear the board, especially with the help of pyre song, Demolish (on Korok but triggered with Steel Rosetta's Inspire), Staff, and Augmentation.

That’s for sharing these videos. It’s really helpful to see the same deck in action across multiple games along with your commentary. I’m curious to find out what you realised about the deck or your own gameplay style, while watching back over the videos.

Surprised you discounted upgrading the tinker completely on last turn. The only out I can think of is that you play the nanoswarm, put both mega gizmos in center lane, and hope he drops chrogias, in front of the 6/6 gizmo, and destroys the Skeleton to pump Chrogias (which would be a misplay on his part, so I don't think he'd play it there). You can then upgrade steadfast tinker and place it in front of the Chrogias to block 15, and kill both minions to push through enough to over kill him -3 to -2. No other way to push enough damage, and relies on misplay. But possible.

You couldn't have Dreadbolted the Wartusk. Herald of Fury only lets you play a level 1 card, so it must've been a level 1 Dreadbolt, which couldn't of hit the Wartusk. You played it correctly :)

FWIW, you played the Ator correctly (around 20:00min mark). If you had played Ator first, you would have had to replace the Fireheart Idol before it went off. Playing the Runic Pit first allowed you to trigger the Fireheart Idol, which is a much better tradeoff than an extra 2 damage from the Darkheart Sorcerer.

I should clarify that the reason I was considering Faygin was that he, in my cube, comes with two urchins as paired side cards. Standing alone with no automatic urchins, the conversation makes much less sense (because a single Faygin is a 3 power creature with an irrelevant reap ability, so rather bad). Apologies for forgetting to mention that in this video.

I was stuck between edai, phalanx strike, and snag. I like taking the board control, but as the game goes longer snag gets worse as the deck becomes mono house. I was concerned about going to time so I hit his stall. All 3 very good options though!

31:22 You are probably right, the better line is probably (1) Pompitus fights Mother damaging both, (2) Legionary and 1st Raptor reap, (3) Scutum on 2nd Raptor, (4) Tribute the 2nd Raptor, exatling, (5) 2nd Raptor fights and kills Pit Demon, get 2 dmg, exalts to ready 1st Raptor who fights Vinda exalts an readies 2nd Raptor who fights and kills Vinda, gets at 4 dmg, exalts and readies Pompitus who fights Mother, thus destroying Mother, Pompitus and 2nd Raptor, (6) Play Spiral.

Watching the match now. I said "I know it's game over" because i took a very bad turn just to kill the Dusk Witch, I can't leave the witch alive on that side, because if the shadows guys come into play ready it would be impossible for me to win.
