Wowowow I love this! It's so visceral and conveys exactly the right feelings without actually showing that much. Great work

Interesting juxtaposition between the upbeat falsetto vocal driven electronica and the very dark themeof Ganaka Pit. Interesting that you chose to give Murderbot so much hair! Really loved this. Would love to see more Murderbot inspired videos from you.

holy FUCK this is good. the way the feeds cut out one at a time, the jerky start and stop movement, the way you show murderbot powering things and the map… everything in this animation is just perfectly done. even knowing exactly how it would go i was still on the edge of my seat right up to the end. and GOD the song choice, that’s just evil

This was so well done. The lyrics of the first verse about the broken train seem so well suited to the descent into Ganaka Pit it’s hard to imagine the song being about anything else now. The blurriness is a good technique, although it took my second watch through to understand it wasn’t a buffering problem on my end. SecUnit curling up on the floor and rocking a bit was so poignant. I just want one of its humans to sit nearby close enough to touch but not touch. The song says what SecUnit has trouble saying: “it’s as if I’m scared, it’s as if I’m terrified…” This has become like episode 244 of Sanctuary Moon for me. The song plays in my head at random times like background music and brings back all these emotions. It’s changed my view of how powerful the scene is, which was already sad and inspiring from the ComfortUnits’ heroism. I have trouble extrapolating beyond SecUnit’s understated narration, and this video showed more of what likely happened during Rogue Protocol.

Thank you so much! And oddly that's a great thing to hear about the pixellation effect, it's meant to have that sort of digital- fault vibes. I can't think of the song as anything else either anymore, when I had the idea it felt like I was revealing something that already existed haha.

i come back to this pretty regularly. chills every single time. the art, the way mb becomes more and more distressed as it views the comfort unit's logs... ohhh man. this was the first place i heard "relax" and it's one of my favorite songs now.

I just finished rereading Artificial Condition, and I knew I had to rewatch this animation. Everything about this video, from the monochrome color scheme, to the blurry pixels, to the unnerving music, conveys how unsettling and horrifying this scene is. You can feel the dread as Murderbot pieces together what happened, and the scene where the four ComfortUnits' feeds drop out one by one is chilling. This is REALLY well made. Thank you for sharing your art!

hey, your art is insane. like, this is beautiful - every shot is so well done and it feels like you put so much love into this. also, the map effect to split up scene is inspired and i love the electricity dots when MB is plugged in! thank you so much for sharing your hard work, I'm gonna rewatch this compulsively 10 times in a row

I just ran across a link to this and it's so beautifully constructed! Everything fits together incredibly well to tell the story, both the external action and the internal responses. My favorite bits are the way Murderbot's reactions are conveyed through its system notifications, like the performance reliability dropping and the low power warning bringing Murderbot back to itself and the present. And the way the visual movement and use of lights and lighting works with the music is phenomenal. Thank you so much for this!

This is so beautiful. The transitions? Especially the map one? They’re so clever Murderbot’s expressions are so clear, it’s like the emotions are just waiting on it’s face It’s so great to see

I love the character design for Murderbot - I like that it's so sturdy-looking. That combination of visible strength and vulnerability is very touching. I also really appreciated that there are fat people working in this installation :) The whole thing had a very spooky feel, but the comfort units' feeds going dark one by one really brought home the horror. Love it!

God, the bit in the book where the ComfortUnits break off to do damage control, and one by one stop responding, absolutely wrecked me. You did a great job of conveying that here, ouch. Beautiful work.

I love this. Now that I've finished everything published to date in the series, I need to go back to that section and reread this scene. Because initially, I assumed MB was a fairly reliable narrator, but as the books progressed I began to realize that's not the case, and there are so many cues I might have missed first read-through. Your video really highlights what an impactful scene that was, and how underplayed in the writing!, it must have been pivotal and wrenching for MB. Thank you for doing this video. I came here from a link/recc from Martha Wells herself on her DW page.

Aww this was so well done. Really evoked that part of the books...wow. Super sad, but by that I mean, you really nailed it! The music contrasted with the visuals, the knowledge that it wasn't MB's fault, but that what happened was still horrible...all of the nuance is there.

Absolutely amazing! How have I not seen this before?! The animation style is perfect for the horror and derealization of the Ganaka Pit story!! The four glitchy sections of the screen were amazing and added a heartbreaking reality to it al!! ahhh!!!!
