I think this has a lot to do with why I quit playing video games when I was an early teen. It always seemed like I lost the time for gaming culture as I got older along with the games themselves being less rewarding with less childlike wonder to them. It’s makes sense when you realize that games literally have been getting the childlike wonder taken out of them.

My biggest gripe with Bioshock infinite was never it being a bad game Cause its not. Its competently made and at least tries to be something. My issue is it fails to be what i loved about bioshock. The first one. Dont. Dont even come at me with that other one

Even though I personally like bioshock 2 the most, the great thing about the bioshock series is that honestly, no matter which one you play, they're all still great games.

It’s not “over” just because a few stinkers have come out. There are still plenty of good games.

this is not modern gaming... this is idiot gaming... live proof that gamers have downgraded their standards... thankfully elden ring came and saved us a couple of years of pain ^^ Simple solution is we need to teach those fortnite kids that gaming is art and that show them old games to make them see what really matters... ain't nobody in their common sense spending on microtransactions but low iq NPC's... we need to help them to wake up and play nice games that make you feel good and acomplished for playing and not for buying ^^

Video games with high production costs are more likely to be less creative. Developers want their expensively produced game to earn them sales. So they are unlikely to try creative things that might not be widely liked.

Here’s a ball game without a ball: Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Basically, instead of a ball, it’s a blob of liquid mercury, which adds a surprising amount of nuance as to how the game operates/is played as compared to other normal ball games, like the blob splitting and you now maneuvering two separate blobs at once. I played this game on the Wii as a kid and I’ll never forget it. I’m pretty sure there was one or two games that came before it but I haven’t played them, and there haven’t been any games with this IP since MMR.

Couldn't disagree more. Bioshock Infinite sucked with boring dumbed down gameplay and a story which made no sense (even Ken Levine admitted he didn't understand it). Bioshock 2 is the good one.

I’m a nintendo fan and I personally agree tbh. I’ve been emulating it and I’m loving it rn. My personal favorites are sly cooper, sonic heroes(surprisingly 30 fps is pretty consistent and smooth for a sonic game I couldn’t get it to stay 60 fps for dolphin.) and Spider-man. I need more games for it tho 5 ain’t cutting it but i can say I’m enjoying my first time in the world of PlayStation. Definitely get a PS2 especially since they don’t make any 3d platformers anymore which is a genre i miss alot tbh.

Amazing video, man, like honestly I loved it. Nobody else has put this stuff as bluntly as you have. Though I do kinda wish that you at least mentioned TF2 as more than just the hats, because it really is a fun game and the "all about cosmetics" take, though usually a joke, does tick me off a bit since it kinda just reduces the masterpiece to "haha funny gibus" (i mean it does have funny gibus but it has amazing play too) Overall though, I loved this watch, as a gamer who missed the classic era and is desperately trying to chase it down before I can't anymore.

Fuck off. Bioshock 1 is a better art, but Bioshock 2 is a better game. That is because after Atlas has shrugged, and the story has been told, what is left is a clunky first-person experience that is hard to replay. Bioshock 2, for all of it's non-story BS, has a more matured first-person experience; can dual-wield plasmids and guns, hacking isn't plumbing, camera is recording video, etc. etc.

"BioShock 2 sucks." Aaaaaaand, *disliked.* To call BioShock 2 soulless and derivative is and ignorant as it is disingenuous. BioShock 2 was written and directed by Jordan Thomas, who was one of the level designers for BioShock (specifically Fort Frolic). Jordan also worked on Thief: Deadly Shadows (specifically the level Shalebridge Cradle), one of the games that BioShock takes heavy inspiration from, and he even got called in by 2K to help finish up BS Infinite after Ken Levine kept missing deadline after deadline because he'd rather develop games forever and never release them (Ken himself has said exactly that). Even I'll grant Sophia Lamb isn't nearly as legendary an antagonist as Andrew Ryan, but if you actually looked deeper or had stronger criteria than "eccentric=good characterization," you might have noticed she is the perfect antipode in philosophical quandaries to Ryan. Ryan is an ultra-libertarian anarchy-capitalist who starts out with good intentions that turn tyrannical, but Sophia Lamb is a uber-far left collectivist who's tyrannical from the start, and just cloaks her lust for power in the false virtue of "the greater good." You say "Andrew Ryan built Rapture, Sophia Lamb just sleeps in it" as if that's a dunk, _but that's entirely the point:_ Sophia Lamb is the exact kind of collectivist, altruistic parasite and scavenger that Andrew Ryan built Rapture to escape from. She didn't build Rapture, and could never build Rapture, but in her infinite arrogance, annexed it, and believes she knows how to save it, but in ten years, not only has it not improved, it's only gotten worse... *exactly like commies in real life.* BioShock is "the capitalists go insane,' BioShock 2 is "the communists go insane." BioSucks Infinitely is pretty and... that's it. Gameplay-wise, it's a mish-mash of staple mechanics of 2010's game design taken from better games and thrown together. You yourself admitted that it's the exact kind of game that Yahtzee coined a pejorative genre title just to define, and your only defense was: "But it's pretty." To make matters worse, Infinite Disappointment is an even worse critique of the things it's trying to condemn -- Christianity, nationalism, patriotism, racism, classism, free markets, free will, and white male Americans in general -- than BioShock was an honest criticism of Ayn Rand. It has even more straw man arguments, more unwillingness to look into the historical president of such things or how they happen in general, and blatant historical revisionism through lying by omission, fictitious retellings of events that actually happened, such as The Battle at Wounded Knee and The Boxer Rebellion. Infinite Lies is outright anti American propaganda... but you didn't notice, because "it's pretty." Worst of all, the story of Infinite Damage to the BioShock Franchise is not only derivative of BioShock 2, it has the worst mechanical writing I have, and likely will ever see in my entire life, with even more ludonarrative dissonance that The Last of Us 2. The only story that I can even think comes close to establishing rules about how its supposed to work and then breaking them at every single available opportunity is Doctor Strange 2: Witch with Baby Rabies Boogaloo, and given their structure, I highly suspect Michael Waldren was copying Infinitely Terrible's homework when he defecated DSMoM and Loki into existence. The entire story is "anti-America Quantum Leap for people with brain damage," and ends with you creating a grandfather paradox, which is the single biggest thing you're supposed to avoid in time-travel stories. And what's your defense for this game so bad that it killed the franchise? "IT'S *PURDY!* SHE SO PURDY I WANNA BEND THE DISC OVER A TABLE AND FRAK IT!" Yeah, it's pretty, but look past your white knight complex to see underneath all those looks, and BS Infinite is a cluster-B psychopath who drowns her own father. All the context, all the story, all the deeper themes and political philosophy that given context for the environment you're shooting in and why you're shooting the enemies who you're shooting don't matter to you: only if clicking on things activates enough dopamine receptors in your rat brain, and if it's purdy. So congrats; you get to worship at the false altar of the graphics gods, so eat it up, shallow, superficial consoomer. You get to be slapped in the face with Frostbite engine, you get thousand-dollar graphics cards, you get to mine the well of nostalgia for cash-grab remasters in perpetuity, and you get _Concord._ TL:DR: if you hate BioShock 2 but love BioSucks Infinitely, you're probably the exact kind of hammer and sickleite that BioShock 2 condemns and BS Infinite praises.
