It is a shame there are so many technical problems. I still think it's a really fun game, and I'm willing to put up with the crashes. I will say it has been crashing a lot less since I moved the game files to my regular hard drive rather than the SSD. The downside is the much longer load times. Interestingly another viewer Gerydos does not seem to have any technical issues with his 3080 GPU... Perhaps it's because he's an Omnissiah-blessed tech priest.

I really should carefully count the tiles in one of these episodes so I remember. It's not a XCOM-like without tile counting!

I want to get better gear too! But requisition is in short supply, even though I keep winning missions with the valorous deeds. I feel like we actually have plenty of melee weapons. It's ranged weapons, terminator armor, and especially Assassin gear that I lack atm.

Thanks, but not losing a few fodder bros at this stage is just RNG. If you watch S11 or S12 you'll see a few losses. I think skill isn't whether you achieve x result by y day. Rather, it's given a particular battle/setup, what outcome can you get? I'm consistent at getting a good outcome (fewer injuries, more armor) over a large number of battles. If I get lucky, it means fewer losses. If I get unlucky, it might mean more losses or not getting loot in a few battles.

Nope. But if I equip certain armor I can use a Medicae servo skull as a tech marine. They can also heal their own servitors, it's an inherent power.

I asked, because I saw that, of the two servitors you hadn't purchased, the first of the second row very much looked like having a Narthecium-like thing (the device on the wrist of the Apothecaries). And, since Medicae servitors are a well established thing in the lore, I assumed that was one of the possibilities.

Thanks for clarifying the lore! I appreciate details in a game that are for the aficionados. Not everything needs to be explained to me.

Mmmmmmmmh. I see. Maybe it's worth keeping a "melee" Techmarine without, then? Because, if I recall, the Omnissian Axe has armour break, so there is value in using them in melee, but there is also value in using them as mobile firebases with the servitors.

@@talscorner3696 I think a melee techmarine can be effective, but you'd want to take fewer servitor perks and more of the auto-attacks/retaliate perks on the left side of the tree.

I didn't know during the recording. I could actually hear the sound just fine on my headphones, but OBS got set to record a "default" audio source which was just empty.

I need to use more thumbnails of the decked out brothers. Gotta admire that gear! Also, bonus points for the word stun.

Anything will do for me, that is for sure. I mentioned a fun fact about me practising HEMA (mainly longsword) for decatades. Partially that is why i might have a sword. :-) Also nothing better has dropped might be the other half of it.

With one of the DLCs, you can do boarding missions, which are not too hard once you get used to them. As long as you focus on the objective you should win pretty easily. The requisition reward is excellent, and usually you don't take any ship damage. Definitely worth fighting the cruisers. I think without the DLC, the encounters are a lot riskier.

I'd have to see some gameplay footage first. It's not the setting that pulls me in, although I enjoy the over-the-top insanity that is 40k. It's more that I genuinely think this title is a fun tactical game, and gives some of the XCOM enjoyment without having to fiddle with 150 mods like with XCOM2.

I played chaos gate and Mechanicus back to back a while ago. Their gameplay is very similar, but the feel is a bit different. Both have that puzzle feel were you find the best combination of actions and abilities to solve the levels. To compare at the high end, to me the AP economy of CG can make you feel like a wrecking ball that smashes through a level with unstoppable force, whereas CP economy of Mechanicus makes you feel like calculating mastermind perfectly applying limited resources. Both are great

I did a full playthrough when it first came out 2 years ago, it's somewhere earlier on my channel.

@@deducter It is HARD! And frustratingly slow (the enemy turns especially). A single mission can take 45-1hr.

@@origprankster Each mission does take a long time, true. I'm a veteran of the turn-based genre, so I don't find this game too difficult. Perhaps my videos can you give you insights into winning on the battlfield.

Really, this game didn't do well? Might just be an unfortunate reality of the strategy game genre, which I know has low sales. Maybe I need to do a Fire Emblem video series next... at least that proves there's a market somewhere for turn-based games.

I think it's the best XCOM-like game in recent years.

Some of the LOS mechanics are a bit odd. But it's not XCOM without weird LOS issues!
