Those strap handles degrade from UV light. Unless someone has recently reformulated the webbing plastic, it won't last much longer than 2 years.

Thanks, I am going to try that. We call those fabric containers grow bags, and they are wonderful.

@@SmartPots Understood, many thanks, but I was coming at this from the dumped plastics angle. Good to know you are using safer plastics though. 👍 Have a great day

Our Smart Pots are the only fabric grow bags that are independently tested and certified BPA free, lead free, and free from other harmful chemicals. Many of our competitor bags are made from recycled plastics in China. In the recycle process, plastics are melted down. Heavy metals do not dissolve in this process, but are left over to be formed into the next batch of fabric. Therefore, heavy metals can and do build up in many competitor bags. Lead and copper are the most common leftover heavy metals, but it depends on what plastics are being recycled that week. Sometimes the batch is clean, sometimes not. The Smart Pot is made of clean, specified, virgin fabric so we avoid heavy metal buildup. We are mindful that the Smart Pot is used by growers who might ingest what they are growing. Check out our website to learn more about our 100% American-made Smart Pots 💚 www.smartpots.com

That in no way shape or form makes it compost, that quite literally looks like wet and rotted hay bale, look up what hay has in it, it will not meet all the nutritional requirements of most plant species

Thank you! Did you fill the whole pot with peat? I used a smart pot for my blueberry bare roots but used 1:1 peat and organic potting soil. I'm worried I should have done all peat? I also added acidifier to the top soil and covered with pine mulch. Should I re-pot these?
