the consultants of course focus on the benefits as they are looking to get paid to do the research. what HK needs is not a piecemeal approach to public transportation as well as carbon neutral. Where does the hydrogen comes from? I did not read the full research report but before carbon neutral if our government can do a study on optimizing the current buses, mini buses, tram, and mtr so that anyone can pay one fare and transfer between these service providers saving money as it is costly to run point to point transport especially in low populated areas and off peak hours.

Thank you for your comment regarding our research. We can agree that the intricacy of Hong Kong's transportation system has long been reassured by the government’s policy of allowing ‘’healthy competition between modes’', yet there is always room for improvement to optimise transport service quality and reliability. However, this particular study focuses on the potential of deploying hydrogen and battery electric technology within the franchised bus fleet, as well as proposing bus franchises an innovation-supportive business model to support the Government’s Green Transformation Roadmap for Public Buses. If you're interested in exploring further, we encourage you to have a read on our previous research on the opportunities of hydrogen development in Hong Kong: civic-exchange.org/report/a-white-paper-outlining-the-hydrogen-strategy-of-hong-kong/
