It wasn't long before his passing my friend Theo was doing a job on a residential house in Tiburon and he saw Robin walking down the street like just some common folk he said hello my friend said hello and that was it. I will never understand why he killed himself, he was so loved by everyone. And there was a certain gorilla that used to love Robin Williams i.e. "Koko was indeed very fond of Robin Williams, and the two formed a special bond. Robin Williams visited Koko at the Gorilla Foundation in 2001, and the encounter was filmed. Koko was seen laughing, playing, and even giving Robin Williams a hug. The video of their encounter has been widely shared and is a testament to the special connection between humans and animals."

I don't blame a wild comedian for believing that Koko could speak. I blame Penny Patterson and the National Geographic Society for perpetrating a massive fraud. By the time this meeting happened, the fraud of "speaking apes" had been completely exploded. National Geographic did a superlative job of burying the truth in the mass media.

What if Koko had autism and thats why she was so smart but her social skills with other gorillas did not click?

Autism is unrelated to intelligence and it would be even more strange if she behaved like other gorillas, socially, since she grew up in a human environment. Also, it's unlikely the mind of a gorilla has the exact same psychological profile as humans, but who knows! She might've had traits similar to autistic humans. There is no psychiatric diagnostic manual for other species, though.

The design of Koko's environment was saddening. Full of plastic toys and cyclone fencing over every window. Koko was confined to life in a concrete prison. There was just nothing endearing about the space. May they both rest in peace.

Robin Williams light burned so bright it burned out too soon. I have celebrities that I like but he’s the only one that I truly mourned and felt we had lost a beautiful person. I bet he and Kiki are kicking it back home. 😊

I heard that koko signed sad when she heard robin died. Who knows but dang man...just makes losing ol Rob all the sadder. Robin Williams movies were always around when i was growing up from hook and then on from there really. Its crazy but for someone that brought me so much joy through his work i feel sad i wasn't able to do anything for him. We STILL miss you man.

Koko scored 70-80 in IQ tests!! That Gorilla is smarter than most people in Sub Saharan Africa where most countries have average IQ of 65-70!! Pretty crazy. She should have been President of Congo or whatever she’s from!

Thank you for showing us more of Koko's early years. It would be nice to see the same bit of film without the music, without the widescreen cropping, and maybe with some picture-stabilization.
