Either get someone to 3d print an adapter or you're probably going to have to make your own adapter plate, I would use a piece of 1" thick aluminum. Make a practice one out of plywood but you need to take a base gasket from each and figure out how to line up the bores and bolt holes and get to work. You can cut it with a jigsaw, cut the holes with hole saws, and drill clearance holes for bolts or tap holes for studs if it makes it easier
@chrisrageNJАй бұрын
You might also need to make a 2 piece adapter if you can't seal the gap between the two bores. Make a bottom plate and a top plate and bolt them together with a gasket in between
@nightmareperformance8150Ай бұрын
@@chrisrageNJ yes, I was thinking of 3d printing the adapter and then put some kind of resin over it to make it hard and handle the heat. Thank you for the info. Have you had any luck with plastic welding?
@chrisrageNJАй бұрын
@@nightmareperformance8150 I haven't done it with an actual plastic welder but I have tried it. It could possibly work but keep in mind thermoplastics might be a problem around all that heat. ABS might work but I'm more of a metal guy, I think it's more reliable and easier for me to work with

I had a 305 in my street stock. Stock lift cam. But the duration wasn’t. They cane with 58 cc combustion chamber heads. The stock ones cracked like crazy. I had ones off a 283 . Can’t remember the casting number. Every thing else was “ stock”. I was forced to use a Rochester 2 bbl carb. The rules in other tracks allowed a Q jet for 305’s . I had a 2 bbl off of a 69 Caprice with a 396 . Bigger bore carb. This combo worked good. I also added a little more gear to rev her a bit higher than the 350’s I was running against.

305's are the weak sister of small blocks, but if that's all you got go for it. Do your research, find out what you can improve within your budget, learn what works, why and why not, so when you get to the point you can build that prized small block, you got real world experience under your belt. Nobody becomes a small block expert just because they started with a 350 or 400. Go to a NHRA or IHRA drag event with stock and super stock cars, and see what guys can do with 283's 307's 305's ect. You will be amazed what they can do when touched right. And lastly who cares what size engine you got, go out and have fun. This is hot rodding not how big is my peniXXXX.....piston.
@mikef-gi2dg2 жыл бұрын
To recap after reading this again build what you got, don't stress it, the 307 don't care, it's going to do what it can do period. Got out have fun, many miles of affordable cruising, hopefully decent mileage, and if you feel the need to front, tell them it's a mild factory 383, they wont know the diff.
