1. Probably the only Shinkansen its body were designed by foreign designer. It was designed German industrial designer Alexander Neumeister. 2. Its design resemble kingfisher with long nose to reduce sonic boom effect moments before Shinkansen exit from tunnel. Its also first Shinkansen with lower position for train driver (something would be followed by newer generation of Shinkansen) 3. This shinkanses had numerous features who were new technology at the time, such as yaw damper installed between each car, active suspension for smoother ride, and digital computer feature for train information. 4. All of this cars equiped with motor to drive of every bogie, one sets of 500 Series can generate power up to 18,24 MW, making it one of the most powerful Shinkansen. Its using VVVF-GTO provided by Toshiba. 5. Some unsual feature who never implemented in newer Shinkansen also featured in this Shinkansen like its body who much rounded than other Shinkansen and its Pantograph in T-Shaped. 6. Once operated in limited stop Nozomi, it was downgraded to served all station Kodama start in 2008. The number of cars in every sets were shortened from 16 to 8 cars of each sets. 7. From 9 sets available, only 6 remain in serviced with planned to retired at 2027.

The sound of the inverter maybe when the 500 series train is accelerating during departure is gold

I wonder of what year could be when this was recorded......

Probably before 2000 since there were no 700 series appearances in Sanyo Shinkansen. At that time many 0 series and 100 series Shinkansen were already shortened to 6 cars. Also noticeable is that the ATC they used is still using ATC-1B (speed indicator not fully digitalized), both 0 series and 100 series in Sanyo Shinkansen were still using white with blue stripes livery were from 2000 onward they using "Kodama" livery with grey like 500 series but with green stripes.

@@Wiratama12 Thank you for answering, and yeah, it seems from that period of time by the soundtrack and camera resolution. And sounds logical according to the 500 series that were in express service in Sanyo and Tokaido routes.

Last time I saw this video was around 2014. Thank you. Also note the train passes some of the 0 series as well. I'm glad that I'm born when they were still in regular service.

Man I've been searching like mad for this video. Thank you so much for uploading this one. Btw were the original ones deleted, since I've seen them long ago, like 10 years ago.

Very interesting documentary about the 500 Series Shinkansen Train. 😊 It's rare to see how Super Express trains are made. But Japan Railways (Especially the Shinkansen) are Astonishing as always, because very well functioning railway system in Japan is one of the main reasons to be proud of 💖 Keep up the great work and have a nice day Greetings from Poland to Japan 🤍❤

You're right, because there's no intermediate cars available nowadays. Only The N700S has the correct car formation. Takara Tomy is not continuing to manufacture Intermediate Cars for the 700 Series. Also the 500 Series does not have intermediate cars.
