I'm about to open my ps4 and check what type of laser I need to replace. I wonder, is there any special reason to why I need to remove the hard drive at the start? ^^

How do I find my KEM-number so I can buy the correct laser? I would love to get a response, this video is great! Once I have the correct replacement laser I will follow this video.

You must dismantle the PS4 and compare it to the pictures in the Amazon link to determine which is the correct one. Sony changed interal parts on the Ps4, so even PS4's with the same CUH number may have different internal components. So u must disassemble it first to determine which laser u have unfortunately.

Great video! I'm having a somewhat similar issue. My ps4 pro won't read DVDs but game blu rays and movie blu rays are recognized just fine. DVDs do work after some light tapping so I'm thinking it's maybe a dusty lense or something similar? Is the same lense used for BDs and DVDs? Any ideas as to what could cause such a specific problem?

Thank you. it took me 3 hours to clean the laser lens. But doesn't work. I need to change the lens. I'm sure it will take less time now i known how to do it.
