That exhibition of Dan’s was the first of its type that I’ve attended. I agree, much better way of viewing pictures because it enabled me to chat with Dan and allow him to discuss his mindset and how he made the pictures. 👏

Photo books from 50-60 years ago are the perfect reason why we should be photographing today. I believe that many images that we deem to be uninteresting today, will be interesting in the future.

Love the image at 17:34. You say that you were working on balancing the image, I actually like the imbalance due to the subjects and crossing lines being left of centre.

Such an awesome guy and absolutely outstanding photos, ive been following for a couple years or so and i actually only just bumped into him during this week whilst i was sellling one of my magazines and he approached me, was a good chat. He is definitely underrated that's for sure. I love his comment on ruining film, the dedication you would need to continue to try and replicate those ideas on film is definitely a proof of passion. With digital its easy, u can see what needs to be changed for the next shot and what u did wrong and u get multiple attempts, but film is limited.

After 47 years as a photography hobbyist, I've never tried a medium format camera or even held a Leica. I can understand the advantages of medium format, but I could never understand the price difference between the full-frame Leica and the full-frame Canon/Nikon/Sony?
@houmankatoozi7 ай бұрын
You’re right. A camera is a camera and if we think back to 40-50 years some of the greats were able to make incredible images with cameras much less capable than anything we have today. I do love Leica and I do pay a premium for it but that’s my decision.
@65WZ7 ай бұрын
@@houmankatoozi Of course it's your decision, and I sincerely apologize for insinuating anything else (didn't know you're also a Leica user). My comment was because I truly don't understand the reason for the higher price. But again, I look at it as a regular commodity, may be that's the reason. My apologies again.
@houmankatoozi7 ай бұрын
@@65WZ no need to apologise at all. I completely understand your point of view. I don't disagree with you at all. I just have a love for the aesthetics of Leica and what it represents to me. Lucky I am at a point in my life where I can barely afford it 🙂

Melbourne gang-graffiti looks the same as New York’s, lol. Insightful conversation, but I grew up with film (in my 60s) and although I would never go back to film, I think serious photographers should learn film in order to understand the context that the greats were working with.

Hey Matthew, I just felt there was a lot more energy and less angst back then. City feels a bit lethargic and run down now. Not as optimistic. But I dunno, might just be me. Hopefully we can regain some of that energy when the city construction is finished
