No they do not! Stop anthropomorphising. They are dogs. They do not get mothered their whole lives this is ridiculous. Their mother will nip them to get them to leave her alone past 8 weeks. Stop trying to pretend animals are human babies.

Sometimes my dog makes eye contact and sighs. When I was very sick with covid, my lab brought me his favorite toy and put it inmy hand to help me feel better. He wouldn't allow anyone to come by me. He seemed intent on laying on top of me, even though I was in so much pain. I will always remember that.

Dogs are wonderful creatures, they give and deserve unconditional love, but they are not babies and we have to love and respect them for what they are: animals who have the right not to be humanized for our sake. They reach the adult age very fast respect us, so, in nature, they are able to be indipendent quickly. But they recognize an Alpha male and an Alpha female, and that's exactly what they see in us.

Sometimes we humans are too clever for our own good. The dog is simply saying "I like you." Our hands, they can shake hands, they can hold, they can punch, they can pat, and they also wipe @sses. The dog mouth and tongue also has multi roles. They don't hug you to say "I love you."

I adopted my senior dog as a puppy. That was in 2010. 14 years ago. We are now less than a week away from saying our final goodbye. She has been my best friend and a piece of my heart will go with her. My husband and I have spent the last few weeks catering to her as much as possible. We have moved the mattress out to the living room, so we can all sleep together. I've started cooking meals for her. Potatoes, rice, etc. It has been a challenge with her medical issues, but I'm glad we have made her feel loved for entire life. Animals are the reason I understand unconditional love❤

😢 I'm so sorry for what you about to face. My staff/pitty is nearly 14 and I can't bare to think of a life without him,yet I know his time is coming . I love that you are on mattresses downstairs all together with her , it is wholesome. A dogs love is such a wonderful thing , I wish you all love and your doggy a peaceful passing ready to get her wings .❤❤❤❤

I'm so sorry to hear this and my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. We had to make that decision with our 14 year old Lab a few years back as she just decided one day that she'd had enough. She lay down outside after she went for her toilets and never got back up again no matter how much we tried and she stopped eating and drinking too. But regardless of the stuff she gave up on, she didn't stop loving us and giving us cuddles and kisses on the floor during her final day with us. I hope you and your husband keep well during this distressing time and remember how loved and cherished you were in her eyes and all of the happy times and memories you had together which brightened her world as much as it did yours ❤ This is the part we all dread as dog owners but it just proves that dogs are as much a member of our family as any human ❤

My heart goes out to you. I just lost my pretty boy, Apollo, in February. He'd been slowly declining for a while. I remember last year crying and asking him to please just make it until his 13th birthday. Though he was elderly and had slowed down dramatically from his youth, he still seemed happy and content and pain free. His 13th birthday was February 5th, and that's when he let me know it was time for him to go. We said goodbye the following day and my heart has ached for him every day since then. Perhaps it was coincidence that he did actually hang in there until he was 13, but I don't think so. He was always eager to please, and I truly believe he knew what I begged of him last year, and then happily obliged as his final gift to me. Dogs are earthbound angels and their love for us is unparalleled by human standards.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just remember how empty and cold the house felt when my dog wasn't greeting me when I got home. Adopted soon after, wasn't replacing him. Simply giving another dog the love we missed giving to the other.

That is not good. You need to gradullay build his confidence and resilience in age appropriate steps. Separation anxiety is no joke and deeply distressing for dog and owner

This video made me remember something. My dog was diagnosed with severe anxiety when he was 4 months old. He was so triggered all the time at such terrible level that whenever I felt pain (I suffer from chronic pain) he left me without hesitation 😂 When he was 1yo and 5months (Or alike) I felt one of the hardest pain I tend to suffer and he looked at me and sitted at my side to wait till I could walk again. Was the first time. Was really moving and was the first time that I knew he would be capable of taking care of me. Nowadays I make any little sound because of pain and he flies to my side.

Lol I just broke mine by accident. I suffer standard veterans mental issues. On bad days I just hide underneath my quilt, over a few periods of this there were 4 Rottweilers and myself under it.

Officially the doctor that diagnosed my dog educated me well. The only ones I don't do are because I have a disease that limits myself physically. Lately I've been wondering if he is actually happy... severe anxiety is a huge problem, but the improvement I think allows him to enjoy his life
