I worked for KLC Murapara in the 60s, we had Pacifics but I say pine trees have screwed the land. In the 70s I was a field service and rebuild guy for Cummins in Newcastle, I liked the Transtars. Cummins made great engines then. But if I wanted the best I'd go SCANIA !!!!!

What kind of truck driver settles for an automatic transmission? So lame.

So much plastic and an automatic transmission? You think this truck is cool? How sad.

It seems as though Kenworth from down under actually listens and caters to the owner operators alot better than the North American side. If we could have a modern W900A like they have that retro SAR down there, I know it could probably hold it's own very well. It is even a great chance right now for them as the L model is rumored to be nearing its production run. There's a large chunk of people that still are not on board with the new school W990 and a retro W900A would be the perfect alternative for those wishing to stay old school. But I bet my last paycheck that will never happen in this lifetime unfortunately.

As a New Zealander I've always liked the American W900's, they're the best looking Kenworth's in my opinion. Sadly we don't get them down under, the closest thing we have to a W900 is the T909. I'm not a fan of the new W990's, they look nothing like the W900's.

Best sounding truck (engine) that was, is and ever will be made. Besides having great power and torque in its day. Mitchpine had one near levin, straight pipe use to hear that beast coming cackling a mile away, sounded amazing.

Secondly, when the truck hits a decent bump in the road, it shuts off and has to put the handbrake on to restart it....talk about a load of crap!

........you guys on your next Retro foray, have to catch up with Collin Walters and his way cool Movin' On Kenworth. There was a vid quite a few years ago with him taking a guy down the road (out the back of Papakura from memory) - but can't find it anymore. That Movin On (with Claude Akins and Frank Converse) TV show here in the mid-70's was the best and put many a young fellow into a career of Truck Driving. Dalhoff and King always had an advert or two during the show too. Happy days growing up in NZ through the 70's and 80's !
