I've never had the opportunity to ride a Flexible New Look "fishbowl." I've ridden many GM New Looks and of course the GM "old looks." I use quotes because to the best of my knowledge GMC never gave the original look buses a model name.

4:32 What you are here for. The grand finale. The conrail Santa train was a festive event that a small train pulling a caboose eastbound to Freeport from Browns Yard, and westbound from Freeport to Browns Yard. In the nearby town of Jamesburg, Santa along with a few children rides in the lead locomotive with a fire truck escort from the local fire department blowing their sirens as the second trailing locomotive blows its horn (the first one doesn’t so it wouldn’t deafen the individuals riding in front), mainly for westbound trains and more rare for Freeport bound trains. It happily started in 1986 and sadly ended in 2018. The Santa train is now owned by Chesapeake and Delaware Railway with a single locomotive and a caboose. It’s not the same. What if we could revive the Santa train with a huge twist? In 2012, a ES44AC by Norfolk Southern was painted in the Conrail Paint Scheme. In July 2023, a ES44AC by CSX is painted in the Conrail Paint Scheme. What if those 2 engines are able to pull the Christmas train. Children and families want to ride in the modified Santa train too! So instead of a caboose, there would be passenger cars painted for NS, CSX, Conrail and Chesapeake and Delaware Railroad all cars sponsoring Toys for Tots. Money from the tickets would be donated to Toys for Tots. A company that gives poor children toys. Tickets: $5 per adult passenger 18-50 $2.50 per senior passenger 65+ Kids 0-17 ride FREE! Drinks such as hot cocoa and sodas are available for the passengers as well as snacks. There would be no first class or economy class. There would be a Santa’s Helper Pass. For $10. It would be the VIP pass to ride with Santa! If children or family members want ride with Santa get the $10 Santa’s Helper Pass! This experience is helpful for the Toys for Tots and for children as well! But it needs a little help. So the ES44AC heritage units don’t have to switch tracks, it would be a push-pull train. We need a legendary locomotive that would pull the train eastbound. The legendary Dash 8-40CW! That’s not all, the Dash 8 would be repainted into the Conrail Scheme and has a RS3L. Children who will ride with Santa will be offered to blow the whistle for the dash 8 heading eastbound. To give credit to the Chesapeake and Delaware Railroad, an engine would help too. Wait! There’s another heritage locomotives that could help! A C39-8! PN 8212 A P32 loco as a Conrail Heritage Unit from North Metro! Heading eastbound, children will have the ability to blow IORY 4079s horn at every crossing! The engineer will teach the horn sequence to the children. (long-long-short-long). It would be an epic adventure to freehold! Drinks and snacks are offered to the Helpers too. When the train parades through Freehold, children and Santa would come out. With the train parked at Freehold, Santa and the “Helpers” would parade through the passenger cars towards CSX 1976, with the crowd greeting him and the children. The train would head westbound with CSX 1976 fully loaded with the helpers. All the engineers would head towards the assigned 6 locomotives. Earplugs are offered to every “Helper” before the train hits Jamesburg. As it hits Jamesburg, the train slows down to a crawl near the lake, going at a very slow speed. Santa and the helpers come out of the cab of the CSX leader and infront of the locomotives nose. The fire trucks arrive at the crossing and wait. CSX 1976 does the regular horn sequence. On the fourth blow, the fire trucks blow their sirens and all the locomotives begin blowing its horns with the CSX heritage unit. The helpers and Santa would wave to the onlookers. The escort would continue to the fire department acting as a train station Yes the westbound out of Freeport will get a fire truck escort like usual. Heading eastbound out of Browns Yard towards Freeport (no escort) is Leading: Indiana and Ohio Railroad 4079 (Repainted Dash 8 40CW repainted into the Conrail Paint Scheme and a new RS3L replacing the original K5LA) (Santa and Children come out at Freehold) Trailing: Chesapeake and Delaware 2005 GP38 Trailing 3rd: Metro North 201 P32AC-DM 2-8 passenger cars Pushing Rear 3rd: Pennsylvania Northeastern 8212 C39-8 Pushing in the Rear: NS 8098 (fully painted heritage unit) ES44AC Rear End Unit: CSX 1976 (partially painted heritage unit) ES44AC Heading Westbound from Freeport towards Browns Yard (with Santa and the children riding and the fire department escorting the train) Leading: CSX 1976 ES44AC (with Santa and some people riding in the front locomotive) Trailing: NS 8098 ES44AC Trailing 3rd: PN 8212 C39-8 2-8 passenger cars Pushing in Rear 3rd: Metro North 201 P32AC-DM Pushing in the Rear: Chesapeake and Delaware 2005 GP38 Rear End Unit: Indiana and Ohio Railway Dash 840CW (With the grinch Riding on the very end pusher) All engines will blow their horns because the horn is deeper within the leading CSX engine. The only difference is that there would be 6 engines (twice than the original)! And passengers wanting to ride the train would ride in the passenger cars sponsoring Toys for Tots, painted in Conrail, NS and CSX and a shoutout to Chesapeake and Delaware. All engines are manned for the entire time heading westbound so all the horns would be blown. The children who volunteers to ride with Santa will learn about the locomotives and how they work. IORY 4079 will be the only locomotive manned for the eastbound journey towards Freeport and is the only locomotive to blow its horn until it reaches Freeport CSX 1976 is the leading locomotive of the westbound train and is only locomotive to blow its horn until it reaches Forgate Road in Jamesburg and the escort begins and when it begins, all locomotives begin blowing their horns until it reaches the fire department. The children with Santa ride in the dash 8 cab the whole time during the eastbound journey. The children with Santa ride CSX 1976 ES44AC cab until they are near Jamesburg and come out riding in front of the locomotive. Ear plugs are offered to the people riding in front with Santa so lessen the chance of someone going deaf during the grand finale at Jamesburg. The train also stops at the Jamesburg Fire Department, where the big escort ends. In the passenger cars, food and drinks are offered to the passengers riding in the passenger cars. Each engine would have each word to spell FREEHOLD SECONDARY CONRAIL SANTA TRAIN 2.0 The original conrail Santa train would have its decorations stripped after the escort, but however, the decorations would remain on the train at all times til it returns to Browns Yard when everyone leaves. This is not a replacement of the present day C&D Santa Train or the original Conrail Shared Assets Santa Train, it’s a merger.

Is this a Detroit Diesel 6V-71 engine and it sounds like the bad head gasket seals 🦭 and tell me the truth and this 6V-71 Detroit Diesel (between 1980 and 1983 GMC 04 ‘s) engine is the slowest between 40 mph and 55 mph speed just like the GMC/Flxible fishbowls new look buses, AMG/Flyer ADB also have the same engine but some buses have the Detroit Diesel 8V-71 with a Allison 730 transmission and most of the Detroit Diesel 6V-71 engines don’t have all the power just like the Detroit Diesel 6V-92 engine and it’s had a lot of powerful engine between 50 mph and goes up to 80 mph speed traffic on the freeway.

The dumbest EPA push toward those buses was to swap out the Exhaust Pipes. Those buses were pretty much on their way out anyway due to the incoming New Flyer CNG buses so there wasn't any need to spend more money for an unnecessary move which kind of took away the curb appeal to the buses overall original look.

Omg when i was young i had a bus and trolley fascination, when these FLEXIBLE BUSES RAN FOR SEPTA, I LOVED THESE BUSSES, THE MORE BROADER FRONT WINDOWS THAT LOOKED LIKE THE NEW LOOK FISHBOWL BUSSES BUT THE WINDOWS ON THE FLEXIBLE STUCK OUT MORE AND THE BUSSES WERE AIR CONDITIONED BY THE SIDE WINDOWS U COULD SMELL THE FRESH COLD AIR BLOWING OUT THE HOLES OF THE SIDE WINDOW SLOTS, THESE WERE MY FAVORITE BUSSES, THE INSIDE INTERIOR HAD BROWN SOFT SEATS, WITH A YELLOW COLORED FRAME ALL AROUND THE WWINDOWS AND WALL OF THE BUS at least SEPTA HAD THIS COLOR, SOMETIMES U COULD END UP ON THIS SAME TYPE OF BUS, BUT INSTEAD OF THE INTERIOR BEING YELLOW INSIDE IT MAY BE BLUE, I WOULD LET THE FISHBOWL BUSSES GO BY AND ALL OTHER TYPES OF BUSSES JUST TO CATCH THE FLEXIBLE BUSSES, THE BACK OUTSIDE AIR ROOF VENT WAS MORE LIFTED IN THE AIR AND MORE ROUNDED THEN THE FISHBOWL NEW LOOK BUSSES, THE ENGINE WAS LIKE A ROAR AND HAD A UNIQUE SOUND, AND THE EXAUST PIPE WAS UP IN THE AIR ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE BUS, AND THE FISHBOWL BUSSES HAD A TRIANGULAR SQUARE LOW AIR VENT ON THE TOP ROOF BACK OF THE BUS ALSO THE EXUAST PIPE WAS UNDER THE BUS AND THE ENGINE HAD A WEIRD DRAGGY SOUND BUT I MISS THESE AND THE FISHBOWL BUSSES SO MUCH, THIS FLEXIBLE BUS MOTOR REMINDS ME OF THE EARLIER SQUARE NEOPLAN BUSSES ENGINE SEPTA USE TO RUN DURING THE 80'S AND 90'S BEFORE IT SEEMS LATER THEY HAD A DIFFERENT SOUND WHEN THE OTHER SERIES NEOPLAN MODELS CAME OUT, I ALWAYS COULD TELL THE NEOPLANS I LOVED COMPARED TO THE LATER NEOPLAN MODELS, BECAUSE THE INSIDE INTERIOR OF THE EARLY NEOPLAN MODELS HAD A WHITE FRAME INTERIOR AND THE ENGINE WAS LOUD WITH A ROAR LIKE THE NEW LOOK FLEXIBLE BUSSES, BUT NOW SEPTA HAS GOTTEN RID OF THEIR NEOPLAN BUSSES OFF THE ROAD FOR THE NEW LOW FLOOR NIGHT FLYER BUSSES, THAT NOW HAS MANY NEW MODEL TYPE LOOKS. I liked the 1st models of nightflyer busses that was 1st introduced to septa, it looked similar to the old new look flexible busses and fishbowl busses jus the bus frame is more square lookin, i called these night flyers the cousins to the flexible new look busses, it had a destination sign on the top back roof of the bus like the new look flexible busses did, and a exhaust pipe on the side back actually the roof back similar to the new look flexible busses

Growing up in Chicago, NY buses were strange to me. Everything from the bowling alley seats to the lack of standee windows to the odd looking air conditioning unit on the back of the Flxbles. The Chicago Flxbles didn't have air conditioning. We had mostly forward facing seats. Our GMC fishbowl were air cinditioned and had the 8V 71 engines. I didn't really start liking the NY buses until they received the Grumman Flxbles, but even then, they didn't have many with the 8V 71s
