Pull out the two spark plugs the one that has a clean burn is firing correctly the one that's very oily and what is not

Sounds like you're getting an occasional inconsistent spark on one of the cylinders

Could this just be exhaust noise as the water level drops as you plane the boat? Would think it would happen more during bringing boat up on plane if it was detonation or spark knock.. these outboards do not have a muffler, they use seawater to muffle exhaust by bubbling through it.. have you owned this long?

Sounds like something may be loose and rattling. Have you tried running it without the cowl and doing a visual inspection for the noise?

Yesss, I literally had to break apart the corroded points on my sea king. Exact same model. I made a new carburator float with por15 fuel tank sealer and a cirque with a hole in it.

Is the boat planed out? It sounds like overload for that angle of the lower unit in perspective to the boat. Maybe you need to plane out the boat better, or trim your motor or both. Boat and motor are óut of sync and your motor has to compensate and its overworking it. .

@@williamcox740Let us know what you find out. Also make sure you have the right oil mixed in with the fuel. I was wondering if ethanol in the gas has anything to do with it. 🤔 I need to look that up, because who knows, ...it might because its bad for other gas engines like lawn equipment. As always make sure the pee stream is still shooting out of the motor when it does that to rule that out. An outboard has to constantly shoot a pee stream while running which shows its taking in water properly through the lower unt ports. Which would be telling about your engine getting overheated from a piece of the rubber areator 🔆 breaking off and getting stuck somewhere in the lower unt or something bad like that. You just need to go in after it and get it out and replace it🔆 if it does. They're rubber and they get weather rotted. They used to be cheap enough though. Best wishes and happy boating. 👍

@darlatidwell6255 it's a 76 it pees its closer to the water in the middle it pumps nice water and I wouldn't be surprised on the ethanol thing that crap sucks this fuel was 92 octane chevron mixed at 50 :1

It idles down, I m trying to reach max speed and that noise starts (usually) at 3/4 throttle
