How could you miss that Agatha was Jolene?! I knew Dolly was a Witch. That song was a powerful protection spell to keep Agatha away. I just know it. 8:02 I died laughing watching this sequence. The hose nozzle gun. The Bohner Family Reunion Pitch a Tent t-shirt. "It's off. There you go. That'll work. That won't work. Okay. You know what? You do you." Agatha thought the black heart was Rio. "You don't have a heart." "Yes, I do. It's black. And it beats for you." Of cours it was really Billy. But Agatha didn't know that. They do like their red herrings.

Good horror vibes in this one. And we got to see some very layered acting by Kathryn Hahn. We get a good view of how she developed into the witch she is now. She has a power set that's purely destructive and her own mother decided she was evil and tried to kill her for it rather than teaching her any control. And after someone tells you you're bad enough times, you just stop trying. I thought, even watching this the first time, that she couldn't control it. I didn't think she would have done that to Alice in front of Teen. But, once you act like a callous person and you lie and lie, why would Billy believe it - especially when she killed his closest friend in the coven. So, he rejects her. And she falls back into playing the villain. It's what's expected at this point. And Kathryn Hahn performs that aspect of Agatha beautifully. I also liked the way Agatha's "creepy lurker" ex moved to defend her several times, especially against the her mother's toxic ghost. I remember everyone being all about the big Wiccan reveal with this episode. I missed that era of the comics, though I did appreciate the way they wove his look with Wanda's in his headband. For me this was about exploring Agatha-the-villain's origin trauma and watching Kathryn and Joe stretch their acting muscles as they change up the dynamic. Nice. P.S. It's "for ages 3 and up" to allow the 3-year-old to take part. ;-)

Did you notice? Rio can make flowers bloom from her hands. For her Lady. Agatha did not seem properly appreciative. Seems to me that Lilia's "strong and wise and the best at her craft", Jen's "pleasant looking" and Alice's "adVil" outweighed Agatha's "not annoying." Pr maybe Agatha doesn't find Rio THAT annoying. Rio didn't say she "needs" her bodies. She said "and I get my bodies." If their old times involved Agatha killing then Agatha generated the bodies. Almost a kiss. I wasn't a disappointed as some people were, mainly because I wasn't hung up on a kiss. The moment was intimate and real between two women with complex issues. I gave Rio props for clarifying things between them before pushing a reconciliation that would just fall apart. I think she's in it for the real thing. Water and Fire are down.

Regarding the setting for the first trial, at one point you can hear in the background: Sharon: Have you seen Huge Tiny Lies? Lilia: It’s Huge Tiny Lies everywhere. They are referencing the HBO series Big Little Lies which featured a number of well-appointed beach homes. In addition to being a test of Potions Craft, this trial features Water, one of the five elements in witchcraft (Spirit, Fire, Water, Earth, Air) all mentioned in the Ballad. As for the Black Heart from Lilia's coven list. We have come across one other magical woman who used that phrase. A woman who, if Agatha thought she were on the list might move her to find any one else to fill the spot. 🗡

Another Audrey Plaza fan. And you saw Mare of Easttown, too. Twice as she's leaving, Rio says "Te veo" which sounds like it might mean "see ya" but actually translates as "I see you" which is really interesting from Rio to Agatha. If by the "cop witch outfit" you mean what she wore as "Agent Vidal", I also like that look on her. When they asked Aubrey Plaza which of her costumes she liked the most, that was one of them. I did catch your reference re: Anyanka. Agatha All Along Executive Procuder Mary Livanos is a Buffy stan. She placed a piece of her own Buffy memorabilia in the show. If you're looking for more Plaza she does two very compelling guest spots as a serial killer on Criminal Minds (S11.E11, S12.E22). Both are mainly a mental chess game between her and a profiler. She's good. She's also good in Legion, though her character's story is kind of sad. Twisted and intense. Can you tell I've been looking for more Hahn & Plaza?

Congrats on remaining spoiler-free. 4:50 According to the costume designer (who included symbols of the castle tower where Lilia meets her Maestra on her jacket) she takes her first lesson there in 1540. 12:45 Is it a flashback, or did she just jump again before she died? It's totally open to interpretation. A lot of viewers like to think that because she flipped the hourglass over, she just gets to go around again. Or, she's jumping back to live the gaps she missed. I love this episode. Patti LuPone kills it as Lilia. She plays all of the emotions of a "forgotten woman" until Lilia accepts/reclaims her power and then she brings such presence as Lilia commands the room for her Trial. And Lilia, whose Sight didn't change anything for her old coven, is able to "use her remaining time" to save her new coven. The way they staged the Tower flip to take out the Seven.🤌 Lilia seems at peace as she falls for the last time. I also love the Maestra, who guides her from centuries past, and the sweet dynamic between Lilia and Jen that shows how much Jen has grown. The Death reveal is almost a side note (if one can make Aubrey a side note.)

My favourite episode of the season - I loved Lilia's trial and how her story was told! Wasn't expecting much from this show tbh (I'm a casual watcher of MCU stuff), but I've become quite attached to these characters! As always, your humorous commentary always makes for a fun reaction - good job!

So glad this movie stayed in earlier time period. So many expected a time jump 10 min into movie with hip hop in background with much older character trying to redeem himself. Probably a group of teens in flashy car as main characters. This movie so much better than that typical hollywood song and dance.

4:18 Almost all fish have swim bladders. Little bags of air so they have neutral buoyancy. If a fish from deep in the ocean comes to the surface too quickly, the bladder expands so much it comes out the mouth - killing the fish. They're saying, those fish were RUNNING from something. 13:59 "Don't sound the alarm." That's what they're there for! They're supposed to "sound the alarm" and alert Japan about a Godzilla sighting. It's a tiny ship. It doesn't have a big OOGAH OOGAH horn. Just a radio. 17:15 "spectacular on the big screen" I paid extra to see the IMAX version and it was SO WORTH IT. 19:20 The human element. a lot of people have said that, if you take Godzilla out, this would still be a good movie. People should consider that when they make a monster movie. 27:20 4 Destroyers... Every Japanese warship in this movie is one that survived WW2. Nice attention to detail. You didn't show it but there was a black thing on Noriko's neck that was getting bigger. Director says that's the setup for the sequel. When Godzilla does his heat ray, it's so violent it blows part of his mouth away. Some Godzilla flesh got blasted into Noriko and ... is doing something <ominous music> Probably helped her stay alive.

The dead fish were deep sea fish that surfaced too quickly trying to avoid Godzilla. When fish from such depths surface too quickly their swim bladders and guts blow up and are expelled from the fish's mouth. For their budget, they did an amazing job with this movie in comparison with the failed 2014 attempt at a Godzilla movie. If you want a real Godzilla movie, or a movie that has the timing, effects, acting, and scene transitions right, you probably need to see a Japanese movie these days. Many of the American made movies are getting to be unwatchable. Shin Godzilla, for instance, was also very good. The screen time is done correctly in this movie. The screen time of Godzilla in the 2014 film was handled horribly, particularly whenever he was supposed to be shown, but the scene kept panning away or shifting to a different part of the story. It is like the entire 2014 movie was all about MUTO and random people running around doing "things" while Godzilla was barely a cameo in his own movie. I see this movie as showing a similarity between Godzilla and the protagonist where they both cheat death. In the protagonist's case, he refused to complete a Kamikaze mission but shows that he will fight and risk his life for good reasons, risking his life to try to stop Godzilla for instance. Godzilla, on the other hand, is a creature who's very atomic breath causes damage to himself, but he regenerates and survives. In effect, he is in constant pain from the nuclear reaction going on inside him, but cannot die. He started as a territorial creature that seems almost semi-intelligent and now is enraged and destructive due to what he perceives as humanity attacking him (being nuked in his own home) and causing him unending pain (mutated into a constantly self-damaging nuclear reactor that heals itself and can't die). Both are, in effect, Kamikaze's that failed since one did not complete the mission and the other cannot die during the mission.

Takao, Shinden fighter and the leader guy were all real historical vehicles and person. Military was busy after the war to deal with Gojira, they had to keep the peace between the US, Russia and everybody else (and they couldn't have a real military after the war - restrictions as surrendering party). After War, Japan is at level 0.0 lowest possible; after Godzilla, down to -1.0, below zero, below anything anyone can believe. Many say Noriko had Gojira cells/radiation that helped her survive on her neck (regeneration factor). Always trust your Godzilla lore. Also agree this Gojira (or actually any version) should/would eat Kong like a snack.

I like your theory about Kane’s son being a queen underdeveloped even if that’s not what happened in the film. But still a fun idea but I guess had the film gone that route would’ve been difficult to reintroduce the black goo. Speaking of theories, wouldn’t it be interesting that the chrysalis phase, never seen before seen, resulted from an emergency response because of the quick removal of the facehugger? I can see why some people criticized the speed of implantation, myself included but what if during the removal of the facehugger triggered a rapid implantation with the chestburster under threat to get out quickly, find a safe area and finish developing? Idk just a thought. So many directions to go. Overall, what makes the creature so dynamic and “perfect” is that it’s HIGHLY adaptable which is terrifying but a writer’s dream I think.

The kid that played Billy in WV had to be recast because 1. he's not the same character as seen here and 2. the actor was 10-11 years old when AAA was filmed, would you want a kid that age to make out with Eddie? nope. Hiring an older actor (Joe was 19 when this was filmed) makes more sense.

I love how Rain was build as a character. When she went back there I had Ripley vibes. She went back for Andy. Tyler had a crush on her, but supposedly that was it. Andy was like a brother to her and also considering her father have all that commands i guess he also reminds her of him as well. Another movie was already confirmed in production by Fede with Rain and Andy returning. P. S The actor portaying Andy did a phenomenal job, especially with switching between classic Andy and ND Synthetic.
