Just be strong for him and I would say go with the learning opportunity thing you said. With that being said I don’t have kids but I did have a slightly autistic friend at one time and he could definitely be a d*ck in the ways you were describing. Things seem to get better with age.

There is a lot of wisdom in these areas to be found in the book of Proverbs. Highly recommend. I don’t have any children. All the best to you and your son. :)

Make the point that his success in life will be determined mostly by his interactions with people. Not a parent, but steering people towards the outcome you want can be achieved by identifying what motivates them, and using those relevant points that tie in with the outcome you want.

I don't know about parenting, but all I can say is that as a child when this happened and even though I was flustered and angry after the fight, I still desperately wanted a hug and to hear everything's fine and that I wasn't alone nor was I going to be left alone forever. Things in life are cyclical, there are downs and there are ups, now I know this, but as a kid I didn't and it would've helped to get that reassurance from my parents. Good luck and I hope things work out between your son and their friend.

Being caring for the sake of being caring is how people get hurt easily, and it will entrench him in a negative cycle. He needs to learn emotional discipline (how/when to give himself to others), and that it's okay to be hurt. Emotions are fleeting things; learning to appreciate them, and when (not) to openly express them are critical skills everyone will have to learn. The most critical part of that discipline is learning when to revoke the privilege of shared emotions with others. Learning to harden yourself around troublesome people. Otherwise, avoiding those life lessons will simply lead to more problems than just the pain felt emotionally.

You cannot do anything to change the fact that you will do something wrong as a father. Just let that one go. Its like the first rule of Knife Fighting. You are going to get cut. Do your best. Let him know that you love him no matter what. You're here asking for advice. Obviously you are a good father.

I remember, when I was a kid, my friends dad said to my mom “Kids are resilient.” We were going through a lot at home, and my friends dad knew. Secondly, you listening and caring is number one. You are already thinking of things you yourself could help your son. So give them a go, because that is what he needs. Be there. We can’t fix it every time they go through something, but being there, that’s the stuff they need. All in all, I think you needed to vent, reach out, and receive reassurance. You need support like everyone else. Honestly good job, keep on being Dad cus you’re a great Dad. Friends fight, it’s usually because they got on each others nerves. Best to give a few days of reflection. Afterwards, maybe kinda message friends parents and see if you guys can get these two to hug it out and go get a bite to eat. Show them that even with a fight, it’s not the end, and friends go through it, and thus, learn to appreciate their friendship as well as their differences. Hang in there.

Just wanted fire off some thoughts as you play, hope it helps and hope it is not to much (🤔). You do get lots of Traits to start, you had open slots to fill (slots from each category to the left and all your options to the right, if you hover over you will get some info for each. The TAB key can target and cycle through targets. There are a lot of abilities you need to put on your bars. The bars at the bottom can be expanded with 3 or 4 rows, you will need them so open them now and start organizing them by type of ability/attack. You can set up alternate bars, I put two on the right side of the screen for things I use very little. Some actions you must wait 'til your Red Alert status goes away to appear/do. 'V' key also scans and is sometimes a good call if you are unsure which way to go (on the ground a lot). There is a setting in one of the menus from around the Mini Map that will allow you to set the having to click "Take" twice, also a key to just Auto Loot. Would be a good idea to look through every menu, and Tab, you may have free things waiting, hover over stuff a sec and it will give you a bit of info. Hooking up with a Fleet is a good thing IF, repeat IF it is a good Fleet, you get bonuses and lots of folk on here will be more than happy to help you out. The sooner you get in a Fleet the sooner you start building your rep with that fleet and get greater access to Fleet stored items. You can adjust every thing on your HUD, or hide items... On Menus like Inventory (you can hit 'I' for quick key) there are many things you can access from all the little 'clickies' and TABs. The little box with the three diagonal boxes in it allow rearranging and adjusting, like on your power allocation HUD and lower right side of your action bars (the 1 - 10 numbered bar). Don't forget to check out the drop down menu on the lower left side of the Mini Map. Oh and about Mini Map you can scroll to zoom. Both mouse buttons together allow 'steering', and you can set how the camera responds, ie if it stays where you leave it or it auto returns to behind. You will find Space combat easier if you keep a little distance. There is a Auto-Activate Macro you can find on Google (The Hilbert Guide), if you scroll a little ways down on Hilbert's page. As you level and get better ships you can move much faster. At that store there is a promotions TAB for free stuff and you can reclaim some stuff from there, and also at the Dilitium Store from the Inventory menu TABs.
