*I guess getting 'credibility points' by singing a very popular, well-known song from an 'underground' band makes you somehow pretty cool*

This song is beautifully sung by Michael and Natalie. Such a nice tribute to John Prine and losing an amazing generation….as someone who just lost both parents born in the 30’s.

So - watching this as a huge flatlanders fan. Wasn’t expecting to like it - but love it. I knew Natalie would be awesome - but was most surprised that Stipe’s voice actually worked well for this - at times seems he was channeling his inner Jimmie Dale Gilmore

Even if I were a big rock star like Michael Stipe, being asked to dance by Natalie Merchant would be one of the greatest honors of my career.

in many ways.. when i look back at my fandom, of R.E.M. … i realize that, it really is, as Michael says it is… that, he is a part of the 1%… and i realize just, how… truly e**l, Stipe is… and I feel duped

I heard this cover of Hello in There the day we lost John. After seeing Brandi Carlisle sing it on the late show, I went onto KZbin to look for other covers of this song. This was the first one I found.

One of my favorite JP songs. I'm particularly fond of his live performance from Sessions at West 54th Street. John had such a unique voice. So do Natalie and Michael. Their cover touched me

As unsure of himself as Mike was he could dance. He should have followed her lead. Danced some in the language she has. Not done that thing with the hands he did. Never-the-less this is a wonderful vid. I love everything (until I don't) about Natilie. Almost forgot; I hate tattoos and ear piercings. Think before your pierce, tattoo or otherwise. No one cares about your tattoo.
