I'd still like to hear Far Beyond the Sun played note for note like when he improvised it when he was 21. To me, that take could not be improved upon.

Imagine Yngwie defining the twilight of his career with a coherent, well-produced album with a vocalist like ZP Theart instead of randomly shredding into a XBOX 360 headset.
@JimDavis4406 ай бұрын
I understand Yngwie considers improvisation a necessity for his own artistic satisfaction. However, it is extremely frustrating as a newer fan of his more accessible, thought-out music such as Seventh Sign and Magnum Opus. Yngwie may think improv is the highest form of composition; but the most skillful improv will never click with listeners like deliberate composition that respects a coherent theme. I would enjoy Yngwie's new music if he stopped the constant improvisation both in the studio and in live performance, fixed his tone and production, and recruited a vocalist with an iconic voice.

This is the best Yngwie interview I've ever heard. When someone gets how awesome he is, it goes well. He is like "Yes it's true, I am awesome, and its interesting that you point that out. Now let me elaborate on your point about how awesome I am...." And he's right.

As much as we praise Holdsworth, and rightly so, he was a bit mechanical and robotic. I don't think Holdsworth heard every note before he played it. He often lacked that superior musical tough that only the true greats have. It is not actual criticism as of course Holdsworth is the giant on whose shoulders most stand. But it has to be noted that Holdsworth also had rough edges on his playing.

Great interview! Btw actually the majority of atheists are also agnostics because theism/atheism is about what you believe, and gnosticism/agnosticism is about what you know (gnosis meaning Knowledge). I don't know for sure whether a higher power could or does exist, but because i see no evidence I also don't believe in god(s), so I am both an agnostic and an atheist. Some theists are also humble enough to be agnostic as well, they may say that they don't have full knowledge of what God is but they choose to believe. I think that atheists who strongly assert that they KNOW there is no god do exist, but I have yet to meet one in real life, or even hear from any noteworthy atheist thinkers who claim that.

this was such a great interview so many gems of wisdom dropped throughout this video, as a drummer who is trying to learn guitar and gets frustrated quite easily I think I just need a new perspective and a shift of mentality and keep on pushing. Thank you for uploading this!!

I like how Dean values face-to-face interaction, and facing with other band members in reality instead of texting, most of my respect to Archspire is because of they're organic communication in a one band room. For ones who wants an idea, watch "Bring Back the Danger" the making of Bleed the Future, to see how they're relation is during the process.

Yes, technical death metal is accessible! Thank you Chrys! I'm so glad for that, I wish that I can meet with both of you gentlemen, I like Dean's 8-string Kiesel hope that he can give one of his guitars hehehe, also I heard Jared pronounced "Archspire" with a "ch" sound like Charleston

Love his playing, but Clay has a lot to learn about religion. Super cringe on that stuff. Typical, everyone assumes Christians are playing make believe while they will embrace anything else and call it meaningful. Look within! Lol You are your own god.

To me improvisation isn't challenging at all. If you play something different every night, there is nothing to accomplish, no goal to reach, it's impossible to make a mistake because there is nothing to measure against
@stonehouseguitars3869Ай бұрын
It's not like that. It's the challenge of always re inventing what you did the day before to make it even better. The challenge of making yourself hear the same music in a new way. Improvising is far more difficult than writing a line of music and playing it over and over. Actually, writing a piece of music and playing it over and over is exactly the situation you describe; no goal to accomplish, nothing to improve upon, no goal to reach. I think essentially there are improvisational players and there are more literal and written note for note players. It's two different kinds of musician entirely and I think most people are in one or the other camp. You just illustrated the stark contrast between the two.

Donuts… at that time in the 90s Yngwie had already been unfairly trashed in guitar media as a “clown” ego maniac via well chosen sound bites that achieved this trend (shame on them by the way, and shame on me for going along with it as a kid). Of course the thrash bands had a different kind of fan base, but since it was already trendy to make fun of Yngwie, people started noticing him gaining weight. So the donuts thing is an extremely childish and disrespectful joke to tease Yngwie “grade school style”. The pantera guys were acting very immature with that video, exposing women, glorifying drinking and drugs etc., and other goofy stuff which is sadly not becoming of artists with such excellent musical talents IMO. Yngwie was non the wiser and good for him for sticking to his guns, etc., and never compromising. I am sure that if Dimebag had survived into maturity, he would have looked back at his childish behavior as not cool. Nearly all these rocker guys that were good musicians have grown way past those days of making fun of bands/musicians in their peer group, and are really interesting to listen to these days.

I think these guys have become Hindu Vedantic Philosophers. Yes, Yoga was a Hindu invention. It's cool. Nothing to be proud about or anything tho. They were probably like my ancestors from 4 or 5 thousand years ago. So who cares. But yes, Yoga is Cool. I would love for Tosin to visit India, Specifically Bengal, and learn about the Philosophy of the Bauls and the Tantric Yogis. It would be an honour to show my Guitar God the mystical wonders of my motherland.

LOVED YOUR INTERVIEW ❣️❣️ Kevin is so easy going and honest it makes interviewing him fun. I agree with Kevin about having questions and Christianity. I was raised Christian. But I asked to many questions and that pissed my parents off. Created a big riff. There are so many things that can’t be explained and I need to have solid facts. Really,what about the dinosaurs 🤔🤔 is an entire universe and other solar systems and the possibilities just go on and on. I think once you die your energy is gone. I could be wrong. Who knows. I just can’t have blind faith.
