Love it- though its far too advanced for me to replicate. Still learning the building blocks. I would happily watch more of your art/tutorials though!

Hello, my friend. Congratulations on your artwork! I'm currently developing an indie space shooter game, but I'm struggling a lot with proportions-specifically, the size of the player's ship. Back in the day, they used a 2:1 ratio, or something close to 32x16 pixels, but I'm finding it really hard to add essential details at that size. I’d like to define the ideal size for the ship, but I can’t seem to figure it out. 90% of the examples online are for vertical shooters, but I'm working on a side-scrolling style like Gradius or R-Type. I’d really appreciate it if you could make a video explaining the process, as it would help me a lot. Also, I'd love to collaborate with an artist, so if you're interested, we can definitely discuss it further. Thanks in advance!

Interesting comment, I'm no proffesional game dev but will make my best to answer. Choosing the right size for your spaceship or player sprite can be a bit tricky. One approach is to start by thinking about the screen resolution you want to use. Since most people use a 1920x1080 monitor, it's a good idea to pick a game resolution that scales well to that, ideally using integer values. Here are a couple of examples: 1920 x 1080 divided by 6 is 320 x 180. Which is the resolution used in celeste 1920 x 1080 divided by 4 is 480 x 270. Which is the resolution used in hyperlight drifter. So look at games with different resolutions and decide what you think looks good. Then choose how large off an area the spaceship should take up on the screen, and that's the sprite size you have to work with. If it's to small pick a bigger resolution for the game or settle with less details. Hope that was somewhat helpful! If you want to hire me for commisions for your game you can mail me at: [email protected]

That's so clever :D I'm at the beginnign of my journey with pixel art and Aseprite - how do you turn on this "mirror" option that allows you to paint both sides of the stones at the same time?
@goofyrun12 ай бұрын
@@radosaws6564 Thank you for watching! You press view then check symmetry options. Then you will see a toogle button for it. If you cant find it just Google "symmetry option aseprite" and you will see how it looks. Have a great day!
