alright NEW HERE ;) well 1st time here or wuev er.... 1 does the solar run the troller motor??? 2 is there a couple little bycycle peddle thingies tied to GENERATORS for the KIDS TO SPIN CLASS and get some leg muscles in and charge up or at least RUN TORLLIN MOTOR IN EMERGENCY MODE.... ;) ??? unpausing, still pretty cool setup you got there, lookin forward to the ridealong!
@vango2adventureАй бұрын
@@alexmikhael5061 hey thanks for asking! So kind of... the solar charges batteries that run the trolling motor, nav lights, plot charter and inverter. It takes 1-2 days to charge for about 5 miles so I swap batteries from ones I charge on land for festivals like this (I think I went through three battery charges over the festival). When I'm on anchor over the summer it charges enough without having to swap anything out. The pedal drive is a separate system not attached to the solar or batteries. That way I can go as long as my leg muscles can handle and also have backup propulsion (pedal drive is the main source of propulsion as its range is limitless). It's basically a gear to a driveshaft to a propeller. And trying to set it up for the kids to burn off energy too but right now the seat/pedals need to be adjusted for their shorter legs. Once I get that the range will truly be limitless 🤣 might also add more solar panels next summer 🤔

That is true...but does it matter? I thought of tying/affixing the crate to the board but decided against it as I wanted to be able to adjust weight/balance while underway, and if something did go wrong I'd rather lose the motor/battery instead of turtling my board and not being able to right it because of the additional weight 🤷♂️

Nope, they do races outside the canal... I think lots of their members come over and paddle at the 'fake race' and there's a lot of overlap in paddlers, but it's unofficial and doesn't have any connection to the Elks..although they are a great group for sure!
