I have two questions. First, does the school/degree you are enrolling in have to be specific to animation to qualify for the student version? Also, if you use the student version to learn and make content for a year, can that same content that was created under the student version be used if you upgrade or buy the license to Indie or the commercial version a year later?

Those are great questions. If I were you I would reach out to autodesk and ask them directly. I would assume you could get student version even without an animation degree. I would also assume you could continue to use content created with student version even if you upgraded your license but again I’m just assuming.

Hmmm. Trying to picture exactly what you mean by that. If you have polygroups, try masking everything except where you want the decal, then use drag rec to place the decal where you want.

I’ve been using Zbrush since 2006. Loved pixologic. Great company free upgrade only pay one time. It’s always a shame when companies get acquired. I must say I do like the iPad app and it seems like it has potential.

You mean level 1 wire with level 3 smoothness? No, you can do that in Zbrush but not in Maya that I know of. Anyone else know if this is possible?

🤔 it could be a problem with the uv map. Make sure it’s not flipped upside down or overlapping. Also make sure make sure your normal map color space is set to raw, not sRGB. Can I see an image of it?

Make sure your sky dome is not visible in your camera view. Also are you using 2025? I haven’t tested in there and it may not work since it’s a legacy setting.

@ that is a great question. I’m not selling the game I’m selling the “educational how to”. I also sell a lot of digital products such as Apple iPhones made in Maya. I’m not Apple however whoever is buying the phone, in that case, needs the right to use that product for their advertisement or however they want to use it. In the case of Mario I would not have the right to upload to Steam, for example, and sell the game. That would not make any sense because that is in direct conflict of the game itself. You can find a lot of tutorials out there, such as how to draw Sonic the Hedgehog. It’s not from Sega but it’s also different since it’s for educational purposes.

Thanks for the vid! I just realized we have Scale Master plugin in Zbrush, so you can setup the unit and it'll fix this problem. I have tried to import to Marvelous Designer and it works nice!

When I export from maya to zbrush and try to move some body part with move tool ou move by UV this move detatching the subgroup making a hole in the mesh. You know how I could solve this?

I would suggest opening the mesh in Maya and carefully examining the area where the problem occurs. I’m getting there are some unmerged verts.

You cannot unbake a simulation. Once it’s baked it’s finished. However you can add dynamics to an object, then set a passive key (which allows you to manually keyframe) then you can set an active key which will continue dynamics. For example, think of a cartoon bowling scene. You could add dynamics to the bowling ball. Then set a passive key, animate it by hand curving and doing silly loops down the alley. Once it gets to the pins you can set an active key and dynamics will take over.

Blenders modifiers are great, but without the ability to mirror non destructively like Maya does it's really not great :( . I often want to make mirrored changes AFTER ive UVd an object. there's no good way in blender (that I can find) that will allow me to make mirrored changes without screwing up the UVs :( . Do you know of a way?

Not sure why they would be so big. Try resaving as a jpg. Also should be only 72 dpi since it’s made for screens

I believe I go to edit/ delete by type/rigid bodies. You could also hit the “+” in the outliner to open up additional information about object and manually delete the rigid body from there.

Are you doing a batch render? Even if you are rendering a still image, a batch render is recommended so it pushes out all aovs. To be honest I’m not a big fan of aovs in Arnold. In Mental Ray they seemed to be way more intuitive. That is the only thing l like better about Mental Ray.

Those are all great questions. It seems like Zbrush at some points needs to be rebuilt from the ground up to clean up the interface and make it much cleaner.

@@davidbittorf That is not the point they are trying to deliver. Let me be more straightforward. Since maxon acquisition, almost close to non meaningful updates and quality of life improvements has been made towards what zbrush is. Zbrush is a sculpting tool and towards this, towards how comfortable it is to do what the software was made for, close to no updates has been made. That is just sad. That is not to say it is bad at it. But other software are closing the gap really quick. Things are so bad that to this point I'm still using my pre Maxon license, cus as of now they are yet to give me any reasons to update. When before I paid monthly without a question cus even those in-between updates were worth every penny.

Draw Sharp is an analogue of a simple sculpture brush with the falloff sharp mode turned on Nothing prevents you from creating the same standard brush with this mode turned on And yes, Sculptris smoothing and retopology work through the ass!!!
