How difficult is it to get the accreditation

I graduated BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Bradford since 2009, and have since been working in both research and diagnostic labs within and outside of the UK. I also graduated an MSc in Molecular parasitology and vector biology in 2013, and currently work outside of the UK. I am determined to pursue my IBMS registration. Can I still do it from outside the UK? Secondly if I do need some top-up modules would I required to come to the UK to do that? Thanks

So if I get a bachelor degree in biomedical sciences will I get to work in hospital and analyze samples that r given by doctors?
@akifrahman2 жыл бұрын
Not just a bachelors degree, you would need to make sure your degree is IBMS accredited then you need to undertake a year in a lab to complete your training portfolio. This is usually done as part of an internship/placement year between your 2nd and 3rd year. After this is complete, you then apply for HCPC registration and then you will be eligible to work in a hospital as a Biomedical Scientist.
@ivanamilutinovic83784 ай бұрын
In my country that is not enough, you have to finish either diploma (which takes 1year) or master (it takes 2 years) and then you can start your work. The thing is Biomed opens alot of doors for you, many people and companies want biomeds (cause we are professionals in the machine, we know to read them and maintain it) You can work at the hospital but also in another labs for other things. Also it depends if you are more interested in bacteria, viruses, hematology and more (you can choose which one you wanna be pro at) For example if you work for a private company developing a certain drug for heart diseases or cosmetics, yes even makeup). My biochem teacher was working with some biomed colleagues developing a cosmetic line, the cosmetics are only made from food. i.e. they take apple cut it in a small chemical compound and extract the vitamin E and use it in their products. If a kid or an animal consume it by any chance it is not going to be toxic, all natural! My acquaintance just finished her bachelor and is finishing master now in another country, she is developing drugs for brain and nervous system. Also you can work to develop food (yup food modification). You can become embryologist and you dont have to study extra years to become one cause you alread y have the knowledge about it! So many doors and opportunity but it is very challenging cause you got to understand what you are doing, your work practices has to be very good and exact which can ofc affect the results in the end, understand the machine how they work and how to maintain it is very important so you can get results that can be trusted. Understand and be good at writing reports also, finding ways to measure things cause sometimes this machine or technique is not good enough for example immunology. Some compounds cant be meassure unless you mix it with other things that can be meassure. You get wrong results and then you need to think why? is the sample messed up? Reactannts? Do I need to dilute my sample? Is the machine well maintain? And so on.
