It's not that crazy that could have been done in the first place, it was about time. Imagine having no time limit like the 8K version.

Gaining fuel for blowing up fuel tanks is probably my favorite bit of game logic ever. It's fun and it doesn't make any sense, that's the way gaming should be in a nutshell.

Tod Frye is not to blame for the Atari Pac Man debacle; that's all on his bosses at the time. He was told to single handedly do the work of an entire software development team in an unreasonably short time frame on a game platform with hardware inferior to that of the arcade cabinet. I believe he pled his case to management and they completely dismissed his arguments.

So, I am just wondering...why are the sprites so small? I mean, we had Rayman 30 years ago. Maybe there is a technical limitation. I don't know. I appreciate the work, but it makes me scratch my head.

Why are the sprites so small in "Super Meat Boy"? Cant modern hardware handle big sprites? Look, the goal of games design is not to convince Jaguar sceptics to reconsider their biased views. The sprites sizes serve the gameplay, bosses are big to look impressive, the player sprite is small to give more space for level design. Last but not least, characters in Rayman are made of several, rather small sprites.

Not sure if anyone will see this, but if anyone at AtariAge does, I bought my copy of Epic Adventure a few years ago. It worked fine on my old 2600, but now I only have my 7800, and it doesn't seem to work. The title screen comes on flickering and glitchy, and as soon as it tries to load the game select screen, it goes completely black and won't do anything. Is this game not designed to work with the 7800's system architecture or something? I got it to work once the first time I tried it on my 7800, but every time after, this is all that happens for me. Is there a way to fix this issue? I've tried cleaning it, and I get the same result.

The problem with the original 2600 Pac-Man is not Todd's fault. He was limited to 2k and only had 6 or 8 weeks to work with. He did his best at the time. The game only sold well at the time because it became the in pack game in late 1982 along with Combat and Space Invaders.

Atari needs to release an Atari jaguar +. Used systems are at ridiculously high prices these days. They can just license bigpemu. The home brew community is developing games for them already.
