Biggest yet simplest change I made was to remove the light blue piece from the top of the flight pack and attach it to the underside of the power pack. I also gave the pilot some minifig accessories and placed them in the cockpit with an extra cushion (the spare grey semi circle) I put the orange one on the nose for a stronger canopy connection and cool look...

Thanx for the mods! Why Lego themselves didn't add the thruster bottom assembly confuses me. Price? It's minimal pieces. At worst, $5 increase. Tips forward now? Just add 4 of them 2x2 dome pieces. Voila! Level..and they could include that with that price hike. Wait..there's a mods part 2?! Gotta go.
@ericlandreneau5855Ай бұрын
@@guyver5631 I've been thinking about that. I think it's playability. If you put the model down on a surface and press the button, it won't work if the lower part of the thruster is there; it'll hit whatever surface the toy is on. Sure, most kids will pick it up and swoosh it around, so no problem. But kids with one hand or other disabilities wouldn't be able to play with the toy. That's my theory.

Nice landing gear mod. Also I might have to copy the bottom part of the main engine. :D I did add some space blasters on mine, because there are entirely too many dangerous 1990s aliens around here to be flying around unarmed. Plus, this set was designed with so many cool connection points for things to be added on... Also I totally agree: Lego is for creating. It's for taking what's been made, and making something new out of it. Also also, when I saw this set, I thought "I must have one." When I got one and built it, I thought "I must have six."

Hello there! Some quick questions! Did you custom build your landing gear or was it based on another set? If so, either what parts did you use for the landing gear specifically or what set did you get it from?
@ericlandreneau58553 ай бұрын
@@jamie.nolanofficial hello! These were custom, original design to fit the space available on the ship. The hinge connection is just "1x2 clip plate 63868" and "1x2 bar plate 48336," but there are lots of combinations of clips and bars you could use here, or other kinds of connections. Then there are "1x2 curved slope 11477" and a 1x6 plate and 1x2 tile to finish off each skid. It works. Play around; I bet you can make something better.

great idea! The actuation mechanism looks much better! I liked the movement and sci-finees of the old one better though. I think it would help the mechanism if the yellow bushings where in a fixed connection. It could also be beneficial to swap the black and Center bushing with one of the small black gears and have a gear rack piece for the movement. It would be less jerky at the beginning and maybe even have a nice place to integrate that banana piece!
@ytuser45624 ай бұрын
But now we don’t get the cool banana!
@ericlandreneau58554 ай бұрын
I know. It's tragic. It's actually a cool piece, the curve on each side allowing for a cool conversion of lateral reciprocal motion into reciprocal twists. I've seen machines just like that, with a curved lever being pushed and pulled by a slide. But it doesn't work with the force I put on it for this build. Gonna stick the banana in my back pocket for later use 😁
