Jesus all of them are stunning, especially the C Minor and its ending phrase, a mind blowing Allegro Agitato. Honest and heartfelt throughout, you brought out the inner voices and Rachmaninov's inner world in all of them. You made my day, thank you!

Lovely performance ! Very well done 🎧 Shchedrin and Silvestrov are the two remaining forces of bygone days and probably the very last classical composition giants of the world.

His left hand is much weaker than the right and he sounds like Lugansky. There is not enough weight in the music and the balance is shifted. They both need to work on that.
@emilechandellier60019 күн бұрын
His left is not weaker than the right for sure, it’s a choice to be over lyrical with the soprano. You can see it on some moments very tiring where he play very loud the left. It’s more a question of fingerings and adapting tempo. I’m agree that the 5 is a bit off when the theme is in the left handk but that’s not about strengh, he choose to keep the tempo no matter what and so the melody lose a bit of power.

What does it take to perform Rachmaninov’s music fantastically? Lyrical episodes must be cede. This pianist doesn't know about it. It is closer to social realism.
@emilechandellier60019 күн бұрын
Lmao, apparently Rachmaninoff himself didn’t know how to perform his music, did you hear his recordings ? He was really serious with tempo and nearly never cede in melodic parts. how can be so sure about how to play it, if you don’t know anything at least say : I think

Rachmaninov`s etudes tableaux are the best piano etudes in the 20th century for me..ok, I also like the debussy, the rautavara and the ligeti etudes, but nevertheless^^

Mr Redkin, my deepest gratitude. To me this is the most beautiful ProkofievSonata of all. In a way almost “postmodern”, but at the same time Haydnesquely playful, Brahmsianly melancholical - and, considering what the composer was living through at that moment, Schubertianly tragical. The abrupt shifts, the sudden silences, the returns, the false starts, the epiphanical conclusions... How great is this music, and how terribly isolated - and wise, and innocent.. You brought your enormous insight in this masterpiece to your playing and you delighted me and you taught me new meanings for many passages.

@alexkliever4659 Жыл бұрын
@@merciatreasurehunting6244 yes! That’s exactly how I’ve thought that part should be played. Also check out the Brilliant Classics 2019 album “Virtuoso Piano Etudes, Vol. 3” performer Zlata Chochieva, which can be found on IMSLP in the performances section when you search Rach’s Op. 39 Etudes Tableaux. It’s on the same level as Redkin’s performance. My other favorites in Op. 39 are no. 2, with its tragic imagery of war devastation. No. 5…the passion is unreal in the return of the theme with its huge unrelenting chords and octaves! The melancholic winter nostalgia of no. 8. These are some of the pieces that really make me feel on a deeper level….things/emotions/tragedies that I personally haven’t even experienced in my own life.

I would be really interested to listen to the 4th sonata by Prokofiev played by you. Somehow I think, you could bring it to life. It is also kind of underrated, rarely played and fits in this times. At the moment I cannot get enough of it.

Thank you for posting this. It is not easy to listen to, especially within the context of these days. Well, but nothing is easy to listen to at the moment anyways. I hope, you yourself are doing ok. Regards from Finnland, Christoph

That you for posting this and also for explaining the sonata to the audience, by playing it, how you played it. Easily the best performance I know. And when you play it, there is no miracle about it. It is just a little different from the others, probably needed a different approach only. Your tempi work so well, also how there is more weight almost everywhere. I really enjoyed this. I hope you are well.

Finally, you have only one more song to play... There has been a lot of death on both sides in the last 23 days. It is too much of a loss that did not need to be paid. I followed your play with just sorrow. Thank you so much for these plays. May peace return to you and your people.
