Is it true that for example if somebody push you to the water and you can swim but according I Liq Chuan philosophy swiming is the experience from the past and it is wrong so you cant use it because it is past eperience so you must be drown to the water?

@alejandroprescott-cornejo3862 ok thank you. Wasn't sure because the Open Space Institute released 4 rehabilitated peregrine falcons a few months ago about a mile from my home. I have seen one of them before and took quick video of another earlier today at the same spot outside my window.

What if your opponent will not play sticking games with you and instead throws and retrax fast punches??
@richd.3092 жыл бұрын
@Joan Stone in I Liq Chuan we use Sticky Hands as another training tool to refine awareness and attention of self, quality of connection to training partner and to their structure and mass. For what you are asking it is more of a situation for Bridging, which is connecting from a distance first. If I understand correctly, you are asking about dealing with jabs, bridging would be meeting and matching their force so technically a block but also flowing to maintain contact "sticking". once you establish contact being able to move in six directions: up, down, left, right, forward and backward in order to maintain the connection. In other words, you have to change to maintain. Also, there must be a force generated that you are going into their center or trying to strike, that will make them less likely to pull back and keep their hands and arms up to guard or defend. So making them not want to let go basically. I wil try to do a video on bridging in the near future if you are interested. Thank you for your question and I hope my answer, while not complete helped. Be well

Very important principle taught here. Wonderful to see a caring Sifu spreading truths not often expounded in their art. Rotation, the "blade" [cutting] & the "flat" [two bones in forearm] in terms of forward intent [with softness for control] are key to affecting an opponent's structure & balance. If we perfect or build our own structure, others will "break" upon it. This is indeed the 1st level of Internal [traditional] martial arts. New subscriber. I look forward to more!

Hey Espen! I think the funny thing is that every time you see him do the same thing, YOUR OWN understanding has grown since the last time you saw it. So it just keeps getting clearer and deeper each time :) thanks for the comment and hope you are well.

15 seconds in a fight will proof, that this wellnessstyle doesn't work in reality. I practice this Ilc- style for 5 years and it's not possible do adapt it to a real fighting style. Just try it, and use this concepts in a sparring match, you will see, they don't work. Make instead of this some push ups or something else f.e. eat an apple.

Really? Can you go back to your old ILC instructor or Sam Chin, tell them their system doesn’t work, demonstrate it, and tape it so we can see?

He seems like a very good teacher as he allows his students to practice the moves on him. Most teachers don't do that.

@Liverpix, thank you for your comment. And yes, he tries hard to make sure his students have a grasp of his teachings. Through direct transmission and feedback sharpening awareness, without ego. His process is to share the art, not beat it in to you, or remind you that he is the master and you the student.

I liq chuan is so fascinating. Must develop great sensitivity to master it. Is there ever any mastering of anything? Ha ha!
@richd.3096 жыл бұрын
Thanks Vegard, just trying to practice the principles in a freeform light contact training situation. For me, learning to keep in mind the concepts and philosophy with different ranges and force helps to not get stuck "thinking about the process". The immediate physical feedback helps train attention on the moment, or you get smacked haha

Hi Marc, I Liq Chuan is a fully realized martial art. Meaning there are sparring and sanda aspects taught at higher levels of student training. The basis begins with harmonizing mind and body, then partner training. Everything begins with learning awareness of yourself and the conditions as nature presents them. This of course takes time in ones own personal development. There are videos of ILC in competition on You Tube, Look for ones from Daria Sergeeva. If you are looking for a "combat first" art this is not for you. There are many martial applications taught in I Liq Chuan, Chin Na, bridging, throws, kicks etc. If you want a better understanding of the art go to THEOFFICIALILIQCHUAN channel on here, it will have a link to the official website too. That being said I will try and post a vid of my instructor and myself doing light sparring if I can find it. As students train and learn The Art it can become very beneficial in self defense or added complementary to any self defense training. Speaking as a student, my words reflect my personal experience only. self defense and combat are only part of the system as primarily we train awareness, which is hard to get into here. But trust me, you will get a lot out of it if you chose to give it a try. Thank you for your interest and question :) hope my answer was helpful to you.

Rich D. Thanks for the response. I’m not looking for a ‘combat first art’ but I’d like be shown real applications eventually. .
@richd.3096 жыл бұрын
yes Marc, real applications are taught using the principles and philosophy of being neutral, formless and present. This way you are not stuck in an "if they do this, then I do that" mentality. That way you are free to be in the present moment and act accordingly to the conditions that are there.
@MarcP52676 жыл бұрын
Hi I’m interested in practicing this art but how effective is it for self defense? I haven’t seen much real application like when someone throws a punch or punches at different angles etc. Thanks!
@richd.3096 жыл бұрын
Yes Phoenix Eye is used, trained usually at higher student levels, Sanda training and such. Its not overly emphasized but is part of the training process for striking and bridging. That's all I can comment about it since I haven't trained it much myself. thank you for your comment and view.

My Master Chen Zhonghua from the Practical Method Taijiquan school has used the hinge as the same metaphor for a point which does not move but rotates!
@richd.3097 жыл бұрын
very nice @ Core Fitness Solutions, that makes it THE center point for rotation. which gives it six direction energy. up, down, forward and back, side to side, in and out. My grandmaster Sam fs Chin here is stating the importance of being aware of the relationships between the centers of contact when you touch someone to have this as a reference, thank you for your comment :)
