What year is yours? I just bought a 2021 EPS from a dealer but I haven't picked it up yet. Just wondering if they deadened it in later years.

Wear a full face helmet and try to talk while driving on DIRT! .. COMPLETE waste of time!! Drive line noise. Wind and road noise kills anything you are attempting to reduce. BUY A JEEP if you want Quite. :)

What is your spare tire mount?
@Lonzo15305 жыл бұрын
It is impossible to make a Viking quiet even with all the modifications. They are just so loud. Sold mine soon after I bought it.

As far as dumping the bed...if you actually pay attentin to the video you will see that all you have to do is pull the upper and lower pins and the whole spare tire rack comes off. Thanks for the comments War Lock...but your assumptions are simple wrong. Again, the muffler is set so the dump bed is fully functional AND you can dump the bed without dumping all over the spare tire carier by simply removing the upper and lower pins...and the entire carrier slides right out. It is what it is :-)
@deerdon18889 жыл бұрын
War Lock Wow...just trying to explain that you might be incorrect in your assumptions. Sorry, i didn't know you were so fragile. Have a nice day :-)

War Lock: You don't even know the tire is back there...and cannot feel it in the steering at all. As far as the bed tilting...I set the muffler up so that the bed is still fully functional.

Hey there Don. Would you mind sharing the materials and dimensions to the spare tire carrier. I would like to make one for my Viking as well. The design is great. Thanks.

Very nice. I was very interested in knowing what kind of spare tire holder you have on there, that seems to have trailer hitch on it as well. Where can I get that?
@deerdon188810 жыл бұрын
I actually custom built that myself. I wish I had access to a shop...I'm sure I could sell them

Ebay...look for Flowmaster 7100. You will need to modify it to fit..here is a link to the Viking forum that will explain. Tons of info on here on other stuff as well www.vikingforum.org/forum/yamaha-viking-how-diy-section/4746-quiet-viking-video.html

Where did you buy the Silencer & Spare Tire Mount? Rick
@deerdon188810 жыл бұрын
I designed and made the spare tire carrier myself. The hushpower muffler/silencer was purchased through E-bay...and then modified to fit my Viking. It's a model 7100 several people have since done this.. You can go to www.vikingforum.org I have a couple videos posted and several step by step DIY sound modifications that WILL make your Viking a VERY quiet ride, inside and out! Also have a pretty cool post about a custom switch panel for Vikings that is available to everyone. Search "Custom switch panel" - "Hushpower muffler" - Join the forum...lots of great info Enjoy!

Got it! Great sound work....any comments on the "potential of lean fuel burning" due to Viking owners wrapping their exhaust headers?? I understand the machine is already a "clean burner" which means it runs lean already from the assembly line... any ideas?
@deerdon188810 жыл бұрын
As far a "lean burning" goes. These engines are designed run efficient and lean from the factory. This results in the header sometimes glowing red and producing quite a bit of heat. That is why some folks wrap their headers. The thought is to help keep the heat away from the rear diff. I used a heat shield to do the same thing...and it looks much better. go to www.vikingforum.org TONS of info about the Vikings

Dear Deer Don, Great job - thanks for sharing your progress. Have you performed any cab-bed-engine area quiet mods yet? Ive seen a few on the forums, however would ideally like to use modern, high-tech materials Vs. thick rubber, etc... as I've witnessed so far. thanks!
@deerdon188810 жыл бұрын
Thanks...and yes I have done some other soundproofing. I have used actual soundproofing materials. MLV "mass loaded vinyl" and "closed cell foam." This is hands down the quietest Viking out there...best thing I have done to it! Here's a link to the detailed soundproofing I have done. www.vikingforum.org/forum/yamaha-viking-how-diy-section/4738-how-make-your-viking-much-quieter-diy.html Enjoy!
