Back in the medieval days, carrying around a sword wasn't always considered "fully armed". Wearing a helmet however was always 100% fully armed.

The whole 2 swords wielding was fucking stupid and so ridiculous. That's when I first realized that the writing for the show was going to shit.

What a pointless fight. Nothing was protected from Ned. He was welcomed by his sister. Dayne died for nothing.

I have so many reasons for not loving Ned stark, tywin was a far better father than Ned ( Tywin never considered Tyrion his son, rumours has that he's a Targaryen)

Spoken as someone who knows little about the use of a sword. As someone who has trained for 20 years I can tell you that yes an expert depending on preference and situation might do exceedingly well wielding two blades. In fact there were entire fighting styles and techniques developed specifically for the use of twin blades. So you are solidly wrong.
@Ben-no4lz

@@rayne_brownOther than the Japanese Musashi fighting style….can you name me a single other style or form that uses 2 blades? The Japanese use only 1 full length sword & 1 half length. You try blocking a 2 handed, overhead strike with 1 hand and your own blade is getting driven into your face or neck. Literally every sword expert who’s ever commented on the subject agrees 2 swords is a useless form & only exists to look good in movies. If you can find a single example of an expert saying otherwise….please post the link.

@@Ben-no4lz not a matter of blocking. Its a matter of turning the blade turning requires much less defensive energy. Done wrongly its a useless technique. Done right in many situations and with training plus the right sword (not all swords due to blade shape will be as effective) and it becomes very useful. As with any fighting styles and weapon choices there are trade offs some weapons//styles are not as effective depending on the situation you are in or the weapon your opponent has. Take boxing boxing as a martial art sucks because it is very non-adaptive. Best way for a non-boxer to beat a boxer? Easy DON'T box them. Don't play by their rules. Boxers are trained to fight and be adaptive only within a narrow combative field. Go outside that field and most of that training becomes either mostly useless or worse puts the boxer at risk. Don't box a boxer when you aren't a boxer yourself. Don't grapple a grappler unless you are the same. Make them play your game don't allow them to make you play theirs. Same with weapon styles. Every culture that has developed its own martial fighting style has at some point come up with a system that allows for duel wielding weapons successfully. It's much harder and often situational meaning there are instances where the second blade is less likely to be used and normally that isn't due to it not being able to work it is due to it being unnecessary. In Europe for example during the middle ages duel wielding a one handed sword with another one handed sword was not common. However wielding a one handed sword with a long heavy bladed dagger that was basically a middle ages equivalent (albeit slightly shorter) to the ancient Greek Xiphos was practiced it was techniques such as this that later gave rise to the rapier and short sword combinations that were popular during the European renaissance period. Often the much weaker short sword would be used not to block but to turn and glance an opponents blade away from you.

@@rayne_brown So you can’t name a single sword form that uses 2 full size swords? Like I said. “It’s not about blocking” - yet he blocked multiple times in this scene…..which is why he would have gotten killed almost immediately as the other commenter said. As I said - the 2 handed “forms” shown in movies & TV are fantasies & would never work as depicted.
@rayne_brown
@rayne_brown 6 күн бұрын
@@Ben-no4lz i just told you its evolution. It wasn't until the middle ages that Europe started to name their fighting styles in a specific manner. In most situations a dual wielded fighting style is just a modified version of a different style that did not have a specific focus on twin blades but due aspects of that style made it a good choice to adapt. If you have ever trained with a blade you would see this scene as a solid scene. Dayne fights well duel wielding. It not only looks good but a practiced eye can tell that the way he fights would be effective in that situation. I've trained for years with a blade. Have you? If not that means you are an amateur who lacks the training to be insisting on how effective he would be or not be. The idea of an amateur surpassing a professional is overall a myth. Sometimes an amateur can surprise a professional because being an amateur they will not understand enough to know not to do certain things. So a smart amateur can use that lack of knowledge against a professional. If they can end the fight quickly it can sometimes work but in any real battle that lasts any real length of time they will always lose. I also notice you don't address points which were brought up this i must assume is because you lack the technical knowledge to refute them.
