The contrasting hem stitch looks really nice after fulling. Do you take Before and After measurements b/w loom, off, and wet finishing/steam, to see how much it shrinks for reference in future projects? I'm just starting, so I'm not sure how important that is.

I know it's an old video, but just like to say that your fabric turned out lovely, khaki colours are also good for tempering colours, and just incase you didn't know, if your warp is a sticky yarn you can use hairspray on it to smooth it out as you wind it on, and the hairspray washes out easily and doesn't stain, I do that if I'm using Mohair or even linen yarn as it can be sticky to. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Australia!

Had such a nice time working from bare yarn to finished project! Dyers - Have you dyed for specific projects? Weavers - What are your current project plans? Please forgive my shaking in the dyeing section, I didn't yet have a good tripod for my new camera and had to hold a distance away to avoid steaming my lens🙇🙇♂

If you decide to do singles weaving, have lots of twist: zed for one ie warp, and S for weft. Make sure you Hot/Cold finish it several times before you dry it. It will give you a nice, balanced woven piece!

I am in the middle of weaving a scarf with superwash wool. Having never used superwash before in my weaving, I am concerned the wool will slip and slide during wet finishing; destroying the pattern. Did you have any issues when you wet finished?

Have you seen videos made by ChemKnits Tutorials on KZbin? She has wonderful videos on dying yarn and is detailed when it comes to how much yarn vs dye is used. Just in case you wanted to dive into another rabbit hole in your fiber arts journey!🤪 I found your channel last night and I’ve watched all of your videos already! Keep up the great work!

I'm not a dyer, but a knitter and weaver, and I now appreciate the results even more by seeing the dying process. So much so, that two skeins will soon be in my own hands! I agree that the surprise favorite was the clean up skeins, and look forward to seeing what you create with them.

Hello, got a couple of lovely skeins, TY! I have a. Suggestion for your KZbin sources. The Bakery Bears, they do segments called My Favorite Colorways. Excellent dyer with wonderful explanations of how to do them.

I really enjoy your videos. I have a 16in RHL, would love a 4 shaft table loom but it’s just not feasible right now. This year I’m planning to develop my overshot techniques and *maybe* experiment with some double weave. LOVE the colours you’re using in that first scarf, so pretty together (and don’t think I didn’t notice the matching nail polish!!)

I really enjoy your voice -- it's very soothing. I read in your description that you prefer to go slowly as you talk and I think it gives the videos a very nice flowing rhythm. (Voices can really make or break video content for me.) Also, I keep all my yarn scraps too! I use hand cards to break them down into clouds of loose fiber before turning them into rolags or a batt to spin from. It can make a very lovely yarn. I'm saving all the yarns I make this way for a big weaving or knitting project.

Happy midweek! Please forgive the middle section looking at my lunchtime swatch! I recorded it for my own project record but it is just that, a little swatch! I think my swatch count is up to 16 at the moment just whenever I have a moment. This cotton swatch was on a lunch break whille cooking a quick meal. Still learned despite the mistakes creating a "Make 1"!

Lace with bigger yarns is beautiful, no apologies needed.
@melindastamp55722 жыл бұрын
Your lace knitting looks great! I used to have problems joining for knitting in the round after casting on, but I found a technique where I swap the first and last stitches that works perfectly for me. When I’m ready to join, I slip the first stitch on the right needle (that would be the last stitch I cast on) onto the left needle, then I take the first stitch from the left needle ( that would be the first stitch I cast on) and pull it over the top of the moved stitch and onto the right needle. Then I just start knitting. So the first stitch in the round is actually the last stitch I cast on. And the last stitch in the round is actually the first stitch I cast on. It sounds a bit fussy, but one you do it it a few times it becomes easy, and it makes a perfect edge for ribbing on a hat or a top down sock.

What is a gamp????
@SageMarjoram2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon! A gamp is a term that is used to describe a cloth that is designed to show interactions. Whether color or twill, a gamp is used to show overlap. So in a color gamp by threading and weaving in the same order, you get a matrix showing all the hues blended. In twills with threading and treadling the same patterns, you get a matrix or different twills. It comes from an English slang for umbrella! I think of my gamps as reference documents!

Those are gorgeous--when they first came off the loom, I liked the tabby gamp best. After they were wet finished, though, I decided I like the twill one best. Congrats on the scholarship!

Grab coffee, tea, and/or some crafting and relax for a bit while I babble about weaving! I've added chapters so feel free to jump to what sounds interesting. Chapters and information in the description box 🙇🏽🙇🏽. Also - I promise my weft placement is much more even on the multishaft now 😂. This was project number 3 and golly. I was in the right ppi range, but they were not evenly spaced. Lucky I was not worried since this wool is so stretchy! It all settled into place even before wet finishing.
@annesfeltedfriends2 жыл бұрын
Lovely technique video. Very clear. I usually use both warp and weft the same thickness but I like your idea of thin warp and thick weft on a 7.5 heddle. How wide is your scarf? New subscriber here. 🧶🥰
