Meditating on this, the words of the song River by Leon Bridges keep coming back to my mind. I never tought that I would have a tangible spiritual experience listening to that song or any 'secular' song for that matter. Thank You for sharing your story and your idea with us Katy!

On my wedding day, walking down the aisle with my father, he whispered to me, saying ''Look at your friends over there, smiling, and happy for you'', or ''Look at all the people gathered here today'', ''Look how the sun is shining, how the sky is so blue''. He spoke so softly, I'm pretty sure no one else noticed he was telling me these things. To this day, this memory is one of the most vivid one I have of my (crazy busy) wedding day. The walk surely took less than a minute, but in my memory, I feel like everything was in slow-motion. A tiny moment that could have been forgotten is now forever engraved in my heart. Katy's story brought me back exactly to this moment, this feeling. It reminds me the importance of slowing down, inviting Jesus in my everyday ordinary. Slowing down helps me truly live, remember and cherish my life, and all His blessings.

I think I grew up in a tradition where this wouldn’t have been common advice. But I am learning that “the soul is often re-educated by the body”. Getting on my knees in prayer, breathing slowly, holding out my hands in worship. It’s a posture that leads to praise.

1 John 1: 8-10 .....If we claim to be without sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned,u we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Why would you recommend “man’s” tradition for sabbath? Meaning what Jewish people decided to do on sabbath? Sola scriptura? I love the word STOP! There is no where in scripture that says stop and assemble. In the desert they weren’t allowed to leave thier tent which means they did not assemble. I practice the STOP, while I have friends who turned into church! Therefote it’s not a day of rest, in fact between fixing meal, driving to someone’s home, then they get up and get together Saturday too, for as a church group! Clean up get dressed get in car drive be there at certain time, drive home etc…. From sundown Friday until after 12:30 on Saturday they are “doing”. Why? Because they’re copying what Jews do. Then they critize Catholics for holding into man’s tradition! lol I love what God deemed it: STOP! Just a thought regarding passing on man’s tradition as part of this teaching.

Hey friend, Thanks for keeping us accountable and being attentive to our teaching. While we don't have the space and bandwidth to engage each of the thoughtful questions, comments, and corrections that come to us, we do appreciate you reaching out. Every time John Mark speaks or writes, he goes through an extensive review process. In the course of that, he sends his scripts and manuscripts out to a community of 10-20 orthodox, Bible-believing, thoughtful advisors. After collecting these advisors' views and prayerfully reviewing those, we land on a final script or manuscript. While we understand that in a movement of 2 billion followers of Jesus around the world we won't be able to find agreement with everyone at every time, we do hope that you - with grace - will understand the thought and care by which we, with thought and care, try to ensure that each concept that we teach and write is faithful to God. Peace, The Practicing the Way team

The way to truly grow is to read and read and read the Bible (and be in a bible teaching church) which, with the help of the Holy Spirit, will convict us of sin, causing us to pray in repentance. Reading the Bible will also result in growing knowledge and love of God and then we will pray in praise and worship. John Mark Comer advocates something that looks a bit of Catholic mysticism, Buddhism and New age practices. Completely unnecessary if you have a bible teaching fellowship of believers and read God's word. Also he advocates we are apprentices, does this imply Comer thinks we will become the master one day? We are disciples for life, disciples of the one who is the way, the truth and the life.

This isn’t really a new concept. The ESV has had readers editions for years. They are great.

I've been loving these videos and The Way course. The only hiccup I've encountered has been now. To see the 3 broken sin ways and to hear they will be fully restored and whole is only true when we reach heaven. Not heaven on earth, we will never "arrive" to a place of perfection here in this earth school. There will always be a sin that trips us up, and that us is precisely why we need Christ. As we repent in big and small ways He forgives us every time. That doesn't mean we don't need to reach for a sinless life but that is what the Pharisees and legalism were aiming for. Jesus came to let us know that when we follow Him and He lives in and through us we make mistakes and turn again and again He forgives us just as we forgive others 77x7. We need Jesus the whole way along from the cradle to the grave. When we have a close relationship with Christ we will be lead into a life of love which ultimately weeds out so much sin, but not all; otherwise there's be no need for Christ.

@@practicingtheway I was sharing humanity's story.... I find that through my relationship with the living Christ now there is no hardship in sin. He loves us in and through our real lives and when we turn to Him and repent He upholds us in it, gives us direction and conviction. There is no formula, there is just relationship with the 'All in All'.... and it feels great! Thank you for your well wishes

I went blind for a few years and at times was alone for several days at a time. While I do not recommend loosing ones sight, the experience helped me develop a closeness to my Holy Spirit that is amazing. Now when I find a new source of knowledge concerning Jesus the Holy Spirit gives me a feeling of being able to trust the source, or gives me an empty feeling to let me know its bogus. Practicing The Way gets the feeling of approval. I now have my sight back and are continuing to grow as a servant of Jesus. One thing more, One does not get spiritualy stronger on a full stomach either. Just get comfortable with one before exploring the other. Dicipleship has its Dicipline. Vaya con Dios.
