Can I use the first entry for my 2- foot spin? Thanks!

Putting on my figure skates again after 16 years and I am so excited! It was a good idea to refresh my knowledge. What would you recommend when I mainly feel pain on the top edges of the boot? I can see there is some dried blood in my current boot actually 😭

I have a couple questions. I used to be a competitive skater when I was a kid and it was much easier for me to do camel spins and ina bauers. Now I'm having trouble doing these moves. Can you please post some tips of how to do these properly? Thank you

Guess I'm doing it too tight. Especially around the top 2 eyelets and the hooks. But if i loosen it just a little bit i don't feel secure but wobbly. I get sharp pain on the top bone of my foot (instep) becaise of it but i don't know how to feel secure when my boots are not super tight
@nextedgetutorials6 күн бұрын
Try loosening that top area ever so slightly. Looser than normal, but not so loose that you feel uncomfortable. Gradually over time you will start to get more comfortable with it being looser than it is now. Hope that helps!
@Angelika53786 күн бұрын
@nextedgetutorials I'll try, thank you. Was thinking of trying it at home first and just walk around the house (of course with guards on) just to get used to it. And maybe try exercises for ankle stability/strength too

Thank you! As a suggestion: I'd love to see a video on gym exercises that benefit figure skating. Of course basic strengthening like for example barbell squats is never a bad thing if done with proper form, but maybe there are some more skating-specific ones :)

Thanks a lot, this is so clear! I saw someone at the ice rink put the foot behind the other skate and not in front (something they called closed c-step). Is this a possible way to do a C-step? I am very confused now :D

Great video. I am not a skater. Just a fan for many, many years. But your videos have been helping me to understand the elements of the foot work or step sequences in competitive figure skating. The announcer of the recent Grand Prix of Paris used the word "choctaw" to describe on of the steps. And, of course, I had no idea what he was talking about. Now I do. Thank you.

Thank you! My rotation sucks and I really am frustrated. I jump high and everytime my left side stops me mid jump. My coach gets on me about it (which she’s the best btw), I see it in my practice videos, but I tend to just try to jump harder rather than actually rotate. So I just need something to help me 😭 thank you!

I’ve been skating for some time now but it just feels like every time I get on the ice everything feels off and I can’t land my jumps or spins and it makes me frustrated, i don’t know if it’s a mental block or something else, do you have any tips on what to do when it feels “weird/off”?
@nextedgetutorialsАй бұрын
This feeling is completely normal 💕 I would try doing jumps off the ice and see if that helps 💕 we did a video of jumps off the ice and check it out. keep skating and enjoy it.

Hi! I started taking figure skating lessons earlier this fall, and this was a great intro to the different jumps! Thank you. I'm wondering if, as a complete beginner, it would be beneficial for me to start practising these jumps off ice now, or if it's better that I wait until they're introduced to me on ice?
@nextedgetutorialsАй бұрын
Hey! You definitely don’t have to wait until they are introduced to you on the ice. However, it might be beneficial to start with basic one foot hops, and basic rotation jumps before practicing these jumps. Skipping (jump rope) is a great place to start building a really strong foundation!

Do you have to scoop with that other leg, or does it convert to circle just on outside edge foot?
@alr391Ай бұрын
Is it ok for the free leg to be facing forwards at the take off, as long as it skates past the picked foot heel-first? It's so hard 😭😭😭 thank you anyone/everyone

Wonderful video and footage. I am currently going "back to basics" with my Salchow to improve my technique, and my coach wants me to change to a c-step entry, so I'm trying to figure that out 😅 Thank you the explanation of how different skaters touch the ice with their free foot. I lived in some confusion about this in years 😂 having been tought the old school version.
