25:40 on, It's no coincidence that this video was recommended after the Maddux one from '08 when his entire mantra was "Make good pitches" and "simplify the game" lol. The interviewer tried to chalk up his overwhelming success with him "trying to get in the guy's head", and attributing it to the myth that he had an encyclopedic memory of every little subtle detail of every AB. No, he just smiled and re-iterated for the 100th time, "make good pitches" and "I'm just trying to get guys out" which perfectly coincides with what Leo is saying here but also makes sense when you consider that Maddux frequently threw CGs and Shutouts in under 100 pitches easily. Great stuff.

I learned pitching from Marvin Freeman. Literally everything Leo said in this video I learned from Marvin. If you can learn from any pitcher who was coached by Leo, do it immediately

after all these years seeing him rocking back and forth in the dugout, i had never heard him speak a single word. i knew they must have been keeping him around for a good reason.

I heard that HOF is not open to coaches, only managers, players and GMs. Leo needs to be the Jackie Robinson of the HOF!

Why does the average fastball for the mlb keep climbing? Maybe because velocity matters... The harder you throw, the less time you have to react. Basic science. Tell Chapman to slow it down to 90 and start spotting up. Promise he won't have the same success.

Any true major league hitter can catch up to even the hardest thrown fast ball. Without movement or location, they're all just Nuke Laloosh. He's right. Today's rampant arm injuries are a direct result of the over emphasis on stats like Velo.& pitch count

@@donsilverthorn7060 average big Leaguer doesnt move the glove less then 30% of the time. So now that, that fact is out there, what is making these guys effective. The truth is because their "stuff" is better!!! A 100 mph fastball with good extension is better then an 88 mph "knee high" strike. Evolve with the game or be left behind

@@jordanwatson409 how many can throw 100 MPH? Those who can't try...what happens? Straightens out, then they get killed. That's called "throwing". Some have the freakish capability to have extensive velocity. Take 88 with "life" or "late movement" because it can make you a millionaire with beach front property in LA, especially if, like the majority, you can't throw 100 mph. Arm injuries begin with the basic throwing action that's associated with flat ground throwing. It starts there. Then minus adequate pitching instruction over a long period of time, they take that poor balance and direction to the mound. Then they throw with more effort in a less efficient manner. Over time, it's very similar to the wear of a tire that is out of balance, the treads wear out, then they're hurt. It's not if they will get hurt, it's when. Trying to over-throw only accelerates the inevitability. That's what Leo is basically trying to say.

Velocity can be a factor in a pitchers success or even potential but it’s not more important than command and location of the fastball. What’s the point of throwing 100 if you can’t hit your target..

averaging 100 mph vs averaging 90 mph you are about 12 times more likely to experience serious arm injury not to mention you will tire out way faster on any given night. if you can make the same outs by throwing 90 mph you are by definition much more efficient than the pitcher that throws 100 mph.
