The issue at Man City isn't down to one player. It's a perfect storm of an ageing squad, injury to Rodri and a few key players out of form. The decline in Foden is alarming though. In a very short time has gone from player of the season to a shadow of that. When he left the England camp during the Euros I got the sense that his mind wasn't right and that's still the case now. Meanwhile they sold Palmer who is looking incredible. He will need to recover his form quickly, I can't see Pep staying loyal forever.
@MatchDayMoments242 күн бұрын
Good points Gary! And thanks for your comment! The squad is definitely facing a combination of issues, injuries, form, and age catching up to a few key players. Foden’s drop in influence is concerning, but he’s shown before that he has the talent to bounce back. Palmer’s rise at Chelsea must sting city fans, but at the time it made sense with City’s squad depth. It’s easy to judge that decision in hindsight. Still I agree - Pep doesn’t stay loyal forever. He demands consistency, and if Foden doesn’t recover his form soon, it could be a problem.

Foden’s 23/24 season was enabled by Rodri and Debruyne, top shelf men. The responsibility and role being asked of him and Lewis is imo why man city have been suckin. Boys

@@timetobenotdo Perfectly said. The English players are taking a ride off the back of the talents and hard work of foreign players. I want to see Palmer if he still the same without Caicedo or Enzo.

The pressures of 2023 season, the club World Cup then the England Euros must have lead to a type of physical and mental burn out. In addition the pressure of a very young family, who can bring in many bugs from school and nurseries are also a factor. However, Phil is a brilliant player and that will never go. He is a wonderful, humble team man and will bounce back, in fact there has already been examples of this in recent games. You cannot be 100% all the time and many of his team mates are in the same situation. He will bounce back and I’ll never stop supporting him.
@MatchDayMoments245 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! You’re absolutely right - Foden scored against West Ham yesterday, and City won 4-1 with a De Bruyne assist. Man City on the rise again after the halfway point of the season? Let’s see! It will be interesting rest of the season.

What is a system player?
@MatchDayMoments244 күн бұрын
@@sunblanket2925 Hey! A system player for a winger in football is a wide player who excels in a specific tactical framework or style of play that maximizes their unique skill set. Unlike a versatile winger who can adapt to various styles, a system winger thrives because the team's tactics are designed to optimize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Outside of that system, their impact might be diminished.
@sunblanket29254 күн бұрын
@@muniboyv9628 Ah I see, that then means it is the players fault and not the coaches fault. Because the player does not want to adapt to a new style of play or may not have the talent in the first place, it was just covered by the system they were in?
