Where did you find that foot peg mount? I'm having a bit of trouble finding one that sets the peg out far enough to clear the kickstand
@HardKnoxMoto
@HardKnoxMoto 9 ай бұрын
I actually drilled a new hole for the peg to seat in. As for the kick stand that was jimmy riged back on. I actually got rid of that old kick stand and got a weld on one and relocated it

It’s not a suicide shift. There isn’t any such thing. Call it a foot clutch jockey shift. Years ago when bikes came with a foot clutch they’d call it a suicide clutch because the rocker pedal would come loose and disengage at a light shooting you into traffic.
@HardKnoxMoto

You know that's good piece of trivia but at the end of the day call it what ever it's still cooool

ACKSHUALLY ☝🏼🤓 When you put the clutch lever on a shifter BAR, thats a suicide SHIFTER… in my opinion of course. Totally different than a foot clutch operation and much more difficult to maneuver with one hand lol.

Watching this video makes me quite concerned about your safety. You are building a dangerous machine. Rigid frame with a springer front end. If the pogo (hop) in a curve you will lose the ability to steer and could crash. Many people who built choppers back in the 1970's had bad wrecks. I owned several. One was a 1954 Panhead stroker with a springer front end that I nearly wrecked. Choppers are extremely dangerous bikes. Period.
@HardKnoxMoto
@HardKnoxMoto Жыл бұрын
I understand your concern but if I wanted safe I'd ride a Honda shadow or a vstar. However I want to have some fear of this machine so I can respect it more. Thank you for concern but this is what I want thanks

BTW, i've been riding for 54 yrs. Yes - 54 yrs. I still ride to this day. I've owned many motorcycles from Harleys (14 of them) to Triumph, BSA, Norton, Royal Enfield, Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, & more. No one, especially when they are young, thinks they will go down. However, if you ride long enough, the odds are in the favor of hitting the pavement, a guard rail, tree, another vehicle, or something else like an animal. It happens. Motorcycles - all of them - are dangerous. More so now with all the distracted drivers out there that I never had to deal with in my younger days of riding. I've lost good friends out there to accidents. I've got one who survived a crash but is now in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. I have spent wks in hospitals because of other people out there who are distracted or animals that ran into or in front of me. Yes, I still ride because I love it. I am a survivor. So far. I want a machine under me that will handle when needed. Good brakes. Road tested by professionals. I have owned a few choppers when younger. I wouldn't drive a chopper across a parking lot let alone take one of them out on the road. You are young and not thinking of the danger and don't think anything bad can happen to you. Hopefully you will beat the odds. I'd rather have them in my favor. The world is a crazy place and getting worse every yr. Take care and may God keep you safe.@@HardKnoxMoto

I've got an 01 standard I'm bringing back to life after 8 years. Going to be running 16's and a jockey shift. Having a hard time figuring out the clutch linkage though and how to route it all.
@HardKnoxMoto
@HardKnoxMoto Жыл бұрын
The kit I slapped on the clutch line routed perfectly around the out side of the down tubes then into the transmission. So if your getting one made make it like 2 -3 inches longer

So.. After 8 months of ahand shifter and all that weight hanging off of your shifter.. Is your splines and shift linkage now worn out ..??
@HardKnoxMoto
@HardKnoxMoto Жыл бұрын
actually the the hand shifter it self is very light and the antler is next to nothing. though its understandable to worry about the splines there were no damage to the splines.

😎👍😎 I like the twisted down tube.. You measured her to here to here..checked your frame perches for level.. Us your work table/bench also level.. If your table isn't level..and you made all your perches level..your frame will be off .. Good luck..

Why didn't you just order a brand new twin cam rigid frame? Paughco makes them and there's a couple others. Also Sweden and that area have been chopping twin cams for awhile now.
@HardKnoxMoto
@HardKnoxMoto Жыл бұрын
There's a good reason and as of this response the frame is done and welded now I'm working on the motor mounts. Believe me I got a sick front end for the chopper from paughco and there frames are awesome but this was important for me to learn how to modify and build my own frame for my chopper

the kit i should have link down in the description was for a evo softail so yes BUT it did take drilling cutting and welding to make it work and if your m8 also still uses ball and ramp to engage your clutch plates. best of luck and thanks for the question
