Stayed here a few years ago. Now a hotel. Still creepy. Was given a guided tour by the Night Manager.

Love the idea of guided tour by the night manager. Could be a film in itself LOL. Did the manager focus on film or ghost stories or do they play that down?

From discovering Depeche Mode, I’d say about six years ago. I thought Christian was a superb drummer and underrated.

If you wanna know who was best drummer in the world his name is Neil Pert . Christian is ok, he is good but would never consider him to be among the elite . He is ok , good and enough for Depeche Mode

ah - that's brilliant! I've visited a couple of times. One of my favourite places in the world. so the lady in this video is your grandmother??? Is she still well? I loved spending time with her but that was about 3 years ago - long before Covid. Tom

Great post, thanks. Viewers should know though that the interiors are interesting to look at, but they have nothing to do with the film.

I loved the interior of the movies house that was made - the actual hotel house doesn’t fit Robert Wise’s 1963 production and it’s a little disappointing
@thomasfbryant Жыл бұрын
So agree with you 😊 I stayed in the hotel just because of the film but then realised much of interior shots were done in studio. But still got enough to have enjoyed the revisit of my memories of this great film. ❤

Congrats on 50 years of hittin' the skins, Charlie! You're an extraordinary drummer with an astonishing body of work. But far more important than that -- a lovely, funny, smart, generous person. I'm eternally grateful for your friendship over the decades. Love ya, matie.

Better than anything DM puts out nowadays - dry and repetitive - whereas this has rhythmic variations and a clear direction. Hope they hand over the reins to Eigner and Gordeno soon.

Hill House stood alone against its hills holding darkness within. It had stood so for ninety years and might stand for ninety more. Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House and whatever walked there walked alone. Shirley Jackson
@thomasfbryant2 жыл бұрын
Oh love that!!! What a great opening. Hard to find well written gothic horror like that these days.
@christhornley16642 жыл бұрын
@@thomasfbryant Yes, in my opinion, this is one of the most powerful tales of the supernatural. It's quite unique because the malevolence, essentially, is the house itself. A place of ill will and despair as Shirley Jackson described it in her novel. The 1963 screen adaption was masterfully done, and they couldn't have chosen a better location than the gothic splendour of Ettington Park Hotel. It looks every inch the classic haunted house.
