This dance is ballroom tango, it is one of items of international ballroom competitions. You might expect Argentina tango. Ballroom tango and Argentina tango are totally different dances. If someone has learned one tango dance, it still needs several years to learn another tango dance. I have spent many years learning both tango dances.

+padmarley It came to Finland in the early 1910 by traveling musicians from Argentine etc and quickly became popular. We Finns put our melancholic style on it and it soon became the music of choice for new singer etc. We also added accordion and drums to get a darker, more sad feeling. By the 1930's the number of Finnish Tango singers/dancers had become huge. The dance it self differ from both competitive and latin american tango's and is based around slow, slow, quick quick when it comes to steps and a lot more contact between hips etc. Think of Finnish tango as the sad person who miss their home and family and is hugging their loved ones. The lyrics is often about missing home and other sad things. I'm a Finnish man living in Sweden and I feel the lyrics in my heart. I miss my childhood home. That is the feeling you get from it.

+Viking88 Thanks man!! that was a good summary of how it has evolved. I still see some influence from Ballroom tango other than Argentine tango. Perhaps somewhere in past there was some influence. I was happy to hear from you the themes of the songs... those emotions are somewhat closer to the emotions of Argentine tango songs. As you said on the rhythm, now I can see the slow, slow, quick, quick pattern, which seems to be different to both other versions of tango. Anyways, thanks for your reply. Don't forget to add that tango is not argentinian only but originated on both sides of the river Plate, that is to say tango comes from Uruguay as well. In fact the author of La cumparsita was uruguaian and the birth of Gardel is not yet clearly established. This is because Uruguay used to be one of the several provinces two centuries ago and then became an independent country. It is said that Gardel was the one singer who took tango to Europe since he became famous at the same time regular commercial flights came into existence.
