People regularly drive into a tunnel in Toronto that's clearly marked for streetcars only and end up stuck in the tracks. Not a lot of bright people here.

Is there fine for getting caught in the trap? How much?
@stuinNorway3 ай бұрын
As you'd have driven past a "No motor vehicles" sign before it, they would most likely charge you with that offence as a simple "got to" as it's so easy to prove. current fine for that is 8200NOK, so around £600gbp, $767 USD They can alsu use "Paragraph 3" for careless driving (Driving without due consideration) which would also give points towards a ban, or with the possibility of an on the spot ban for probably 3 months.
@joeybagodonuts66833 ай бұрын

@stuinNorway5 ай бұрын
I know exactly what it is, they're never installed here on roads with more than a 40km/h limit, so if you manage to cause "more death" the issue is not the car trap, it's the crap driving.

It's being used, but the bike culture hasn't reached the suburbs quite as well yet. I live in the city centre and see more bikes than you did in like 10 minutes. It's a good thing that we have these roads and it'll only be used more in the future since availability is bound to convert more of us into cyclists.
@stuinNorway5 ай бұрын
Couple of points, as I said, it's not finished yet, there's still a big chunk in the middle missing, should open next month. Where I swing left at the top of the hill you can see the tunnel-mouth off to my right that will carry the final stretch when it's finished in about 2 yrs time, cuting off quite a climb and lots of back and forth routes. Is it the same density of use as a major city centre would see ? No, but then that was never expected. The 2nd section in the cideo where I rejoin the main route after the missing gap, when the segment over the 2 bridges and up the hill opened last year, the usage of that section pretty much doubled overnight. I was also heading off well before the main rush hour began, an hour later it would be a lot busier.
